Shay's Summer Adventures

I loved being with Minnie. She was the best mother figure I could ask for, made the best cookies, always looked out for me and Pyper, and just overall was amazing. But living with Minnie was very boring. Merida kept me company most days, napping with me and playing in the back garden with me when Pyper was busy, but country life wasn't for me, not unless there was a house full of people like the Weasley's where I always had someone to talk to and annoy. Pyper couldn't handle a bored Shay well at all and frequently kicked me out of her room so she could have some peace and quiet. I wrote Fred a few times but he wasn't the best at writing back, I wish that boy had a phone honestly. Finally, it was time we got to go to Alex's house. We pull up in front and immediately I see Izzy and Alex both just inside the door. "I think they're just as excited as you are" Pyper teases and I jump out of the car, running for the door and hugging Alex. "I missed you" I say and she laughs. "It's been 2 weeks, you mush ball" she teases me and I stick my tongue out at her. Honestly the phone calls with her and Izzy had been my saving grace the last 2 weeks. They help us get our stuff inside and I see 2 adults sitting on the couch. "Hi" I say and the woman rolls her eyes. "Just stay out of the way and don't make too much noise, as long as you can do that you're welcome here" Izzy says and I nod, following the girls to their rooms. "Alex says that her and Shay are going to share our room and me and you will share a room" Izzy tells Pyper and I see Pyper look confused but nod. "There's a bunk bed in both rooms, technically we have our own rooms but Alex and I don't like sleeping in a room alone" she says and I nod. "I didn't used to either, Minnie's is the only place I'm ok with it" I admit. Alex's room is a dark purple color with multiple posters of bands and actors all over the walls and a corkboard with pictures of what I can only assume is her small group of friends from before Hogwarts and her sister. "Your room is so cool" I say and she smiles. "Thanks. I set up a little cat corner for Merida so she can stay in  here. Mom is allergic but she told me just to keep her in my room and she didn't care. She doesn't care about a lot really anymore" she says softly and I frown. "I'm sorry, that must be tough" I say and she shrugs. "The plus side is we can pretty much do whatever. There's a really cool thrift shop in town where we can find cute clothes and the local park is amazing, Izzy and I go there once a week at least. Our other friends hang there sometimes too but they've been hitting the arcade more often now. I prefer the park because I love to skate and the playground is actually pretty fun. It's a good neighborhood for the kids, not so much for the adults" she says and I nod. "Minnie lives in the country so I get bored easy there. At least the two weeks here we can do things together and maybe have a girls day picnic with some of the others if they can meet us at the park?" I suggest and she nods, smiling. "You should go ahead and send out the letters, I'm sure Pyper can loan you Salazar" she says and I nod, quickly writing up invitations with the park's address on it for next weekend. I have Salazar deliver them and then hang out with Alex a bit, resting up after the trip over. Hanging out with Alex and Izzy is a lot of fun, they both are so different yet because they're twins they're a lot alike too, kind of like Fred and George but even more different. Where Alex is kind of tough and sassy Izzy is sweet and kind. Izzy is very book smart while Alex knows more about the real world and the best way to handle things. They complete each other in all the best ways and I love every second of getting to know them both better as people. I don't want these two weeks to end so soon, but I'm anxious to see Fred again. I can't wait to go see the Weasley's after their vacation. I was super excited to see Fred again and honestly I missed the Weasley's. As much as I loved Minnie there was no denying the burrow was our truest home, at least for me. The chaos of all the kids and the constant traffic in an out made me happy. I thrived in the chaos and something told me  I always would do better with chaos than normalcy. Plus, with all the extra heads to watch it was super easy for me and Fred to sneak away occasionally to steal a kiss or sneak in a date. It was always fun around here. I wished every summer could feel this amazing.
