Theo and I were having a great time at the party. I'm so glad Alex chose these costumes for us. They really are fitting. I'm just surprised that Theo got into it as much as he did. I'm glad he's enjoying himself. We danced a bit and talked to the others. I'm also glad that Astoria and Luca made it. Astoria was having a great time with her sister and Luca seemed to be enjoying himself as well. I'm glad because I know Shay was worried about him. He was talking with Blaise and Susan. Theo and I are currently standing by the punch table and enjoying some snacks. Shay comes over to me with a letter. "I think this is from Snuffles." She said giving me the letter.
Girls,
I'm afraid I've made a mistake. Please meet me at the Whomping Willow tree.
Snuffles
"I'm sorry, Theo, but I have to go." I said looking at him. He frowned. I hugged him and kissed his cheek before looking at Shay. She just raised an eyebrow at me. "What?" She shook her head and we took off. We went into an alcove and transformed into our animagi selves. Since I had the longer legs, therefore being the fastest, Shay rode on the back of me. It was strange and I'm not sure I like that.
"Hurry Pyper!" She told me as I ran through the castle corridors. It was strange because I was expecting her to meow.
"Yeah, yeah." I grumbled as I rushed down several flights of stairs. "Just so you know, it's harder to run down the stairs when you have four legs and you're not used to it!"
"Quit complaining, Snuffles needs us!" She told me and I could practically hear the scowl from her tone of voice. Wait, it's Halloween and Sirius said he made a mistake. Does that mean he went into the Gryffindor commons to look for the rat? Oh no. That means all the Gryffindors are sleeping in the Great Hall tonight. When we finally reached the Whomping Willow, Sirius was there waiting for us and he pressed the notch in the tree, causing the Whomping Willow to go completely still. We followed him all the way to the Shrieking Shack and transformed back into our human forms once we arrived in the dusty old room. Poor Professor Lupin.
"What did you do?" Shay asked him frowning. Sirius grimaced.
"I may have caused a bit of a commotion." Sirius said sighing. "I saw the rat and followed him all the way up to the Gryffindor commons. He managed to get in."
"Don't tell me you forced your way in there?" I asked wide-eyed.
"I was a bit impatient." Sirius said smiling sheepishly. "I may have scarred the portrait of the Fat Lady."
"Well, it could be worse, I suppose." I said sighing. "So, what's your plan?"
"I don't have a choice but to wait." Sirius said shaking his hand.
"What if we lured him out?" Shay asked curiously. "I know Crookshanks has been chasing him every chance he gets."
"I don't want to put you girls in danger." Sirius said frowning. "I'd never forgive myself if something happened to you two."
"Don't worry, we can handle this." Shay said confidently. "He's a coward."
"Yes, but you should never corner a coward." Sirius said glowering at the wall. "You already know what happened to me."
"He's right, Shay." I said sighing. "There's got to be another way." I pursed my lips in thought. I wish there was a way we could convince Ron to help us. But he'd never believe us. Should we tell Harry? He does have a right to know. Plus, it'd be better if he heard the truth from us rather than the lies he's going to hear closer to Christmas. "Sirius, how do you feel about me telling Harry the truth?"
"I'd love nothing more if my godson knew the truth." Sirius said with a warm smile. "If he's anything like his father, I don't think he'll believe it unless I tell him myself."
