Finding my light

Chapter 5

"Who's there?" Josh shouted from the dining but there was no reply. He gave me a puzzled look and said I should stay here. I walked to the kitchen to find Josh standing there with no one with him.

"What was that sound?" I asked looking very confused. "I don't know." 

"Call Natalia. Maybe she mistakenly fell something." I said trying to help. "No, but I heard the sound from the kitchen." 

"Just try calling her, maybe she'll know."

"Natalia! Natalia!" Josh called looking very worried. "Yes." she answered heading down. "Did you hear any sound of something falling?"

"No." Maybe it's just from outside. Nothing much to worry about." Natalia said with full assurance in her voice but Josh didn't still feel good about it. "Do you always take everything this serious? cause this is just like a very minor problem."

"No, Why would a sound just come out of no where. Well, maybe it was just a sound." I could still see Josh looking so worried. He's really weird. 

"You know what? I'll just get some better dress so we can go to the mall." I said trying to break the tense moment.

I guess I have no option than to just take all his shit since I'll have to be living with him. I haven't even thought of asking him about college.

"Sure." He said as I headed up to my room.

We arrived at the mall after the usual silent drive. I have a feeling it's always going to be like that. I could see Josh speaking to a lady and pointing at me. They are probably talking about me. I saw the lady and Josh motioning towards me. She looks like one of those top models. Her short fitted gown matching with her heels and long wavy hair. Damn, she's really pretty. 

"Edna, this is Winter. Winter this is Edna my sister. She'll choose what's best for you. What? sister? they don't even look a thing like themselves. "It's a pleasure meeting you Winter." Edna said as we shook hands together. "It's a pleasure meeting you too." 

At least she seems far nicer than Josh. I wish Josh was like her. "So I hear you two are getting married?" 

"Yeah, I guess so." I said cracking my fingers. It was a bad habit I got used to since I was a child. "I'm so sorry things had to go this way. But I assure you there's nothing to worry about. Josh is really nice when you get to better." She said giving an assuring smile.

I guess even his sister doesn't know him too well. They all keep saying the same thing. Probably because they want me to be happy that the guy I'm getting married to is a good guy when in essence he's a jerk. 

"Follow me." she said as I followed. We finally stopped where there were a lot of dresses. "You're going to start trying the dresses." She said giving some to try. "What? all of them?"

 "Yeah, well it depends. If we find the right dress, then we'll just stop there and pick the whole collection."

"Okay, guess it's better." I said as I took the ones she gave me to try.

After a lot of trying, we finally found the dress. She took me to the salon and then we went to mac Donald's. Maybe staying with Josh isn't as bad he seemed at first. Well, I still have to find a good job so I can be able to afford an apartment cause I'm not ready to get married to him at all. 

"I would head home now." Edna said waving us good bye. "Okay bye." I said waving her too. "Get in the car I want to take you somewhere special."

"Where?" I asked looking clueless. Why would Josh want to take me somewhere special. Not like the two days I spent with him was like a dream come true. Maybe he's just trying to make up for the terrible way he's been treating me. 

"It's a surprise." Josh said smiling. This is the first time I'm seeing him smile. And he looks really cute when he does it. Omg, what's happening to me. I will never fall for Josh no matter what. 

I open the car door and hop in the front seat. The drive is silent until I turn on the radio. "Do you always enjoy driving silent?"

"Yeah, mostly when I'm alone." 

"Why?" I asked as I saw Josh shrug. "No reason. I just like a quite place." 

We were talking until we came into a very beautiful forest. "Come down." Josh said opening his door. "where is this place?"
