Finding my light

Chapter 12

"What's going on here?" Kayla asked coming to sit on the couch. "Winter and I were talking about her plans for college." 

"And you guys left me out of it? how many times do I have to tell you to stop doing that to me. I want to know her too you know." Kayla said rubbing my shoulder and smiling at Tristan.

"So which college are you interested in." 

"Yale. It's been my dream to go there." 

"Wow, isn't that Josh's college? It'd be amazing if you went there. It'll actually be better cause there'll be someone you know there right honey?" she asked looking straight in her husbands eyes. 

"Yeah, we just discussed it. I'm even thinking of her college fees." 

"Wow, that'd be an amazing idea honey." She said resting her hand on his shoulder and smiling at me. "Thanks so much. I don't even know how I can repay you guys back."

"No problem sweetie." She said giving me a really nice smile.

Omg, they're so cool and amazing. Who doesn't wish for these kind of parents. And of all people they came to Josh, he so doesn't deserve them. When, I saw his mom, I thought she was the strict type but apparently looks don't judge who people really are. 

"So how has your few days with Josh been?" She asked facing all her attention to me. She must really love this boy so much.

"It's been good but sometimes annoying." I said starring at Tristan who was busy on his phone."I'm so sorry about the annoying part. Josh can be very naughty at times but he's still really sweet in the inside. He's been like that since he was little."

At least someone that knows him better. 

"How is Norah and Albert." She said referring to my mom and dad. "They're good. Though I've not heard from them since I came here."

"What? why didn't Norah call?" 

"Have no idea." I said cracking my knuckles. "That's not right. I'll call her right away." She said bringing out her phone to dial their number. "No, don't worry, it's fine." I said stopping her from calling mom and dad. "No it isn't. She's meant to at least call if she can't even come to visit."

"You know what, we'll go visit them tomorrow. I have a lot to say to her." 

"I-I don't know." I said shrugging. "I'm serious, we'll all go there with Josh and Edna. So we can at least see them. We haven't seen ourselves in years now." She said smiling. "Okay." I said giving her a slight smile.

I guess I just have to do this. It's in the rules after all. Edna's gonna be there so I don't think there's going to be any problem. And even though it's hard to admit, I really do want to see my dad again at least once. 

"I've been trying Josh's number but he hasn't been answering, I don't know why. Maybe you try it, he might pick your call." She said worried. 

Pick my calls? How would he even answer mine when he doesn't even want to answer his parents calls. I don't even have his number.

"Sorry please could you send me his number?" I asked calmly to earn a confused look from Kayla. "Is it that bad? You're meant to have his number." She said before letting out a huge sigh. "There you go. I'm long sighted and my glasses is in my room. "She said handing me her phone to copy Josh's number."

"Thanks."

 It's 11:00 pm now and Josh isn't even back. I guess he'll probably be spending the night there. I've even been trying to get him but he hasn't been answering. Thought as much though. Kayla and Tristan later got tired of waiting so they went to bed.

She must have been really sad. Too bad she got a child like Josh. I have to get to bed now so tomorrow won't turn out to be a disaster. I just hope Aunt Amber must have left by now. Cause I really don't want to see her face ever again. 

"Winter?" I hear my name from my door. Who is it by this time. "It's me, Kayla." I thought she had gone to bed already

I walk to the door and open it. "Hey, what happened?" I say calmly. "I'm so sorry to disturb, but I was worried about Josh. Does he always come back this late?"

"I have no idea, but from the days I've spent with him, he doesn't come back this late. He was even waiting patiently for you guys to come but then something urgent came up so he had to go. If he can't make it here today, he'll probably pass the night there and show up tomorrow morning." I said smiling.

"You think so?" 

"Yeah, sure." I said nodding my head. "Thanks so much dear." She said rubbing my back and walking towards her room.

 How sweet. I wish mom could care about me like her.

I woke up due to the sound of the alarm clock. Shit, I should have remembered to set it to my own time. I'll set it up today. I said as I quickly got up to take a shower. 

I come out To dress up when I see someone behind me. "What are you doing in here?"
