Finding my light

Chapter 13

"what are you doing hear?" I ask starring into his emerald green eyes. How did he even get here without me noticing and omg how long has he been here "I didn't want to disturb mom and dad." 

"And so you thought the best option was for you to get in through God knows where." I said putting my left hand on my waist. "Look, I'm sorry okay, I'll just get out already."

 Now look who's playing Mr Nice and saying sorry. Sometimes I wonder whether he takes a particular kind of pill that makes him act so awkward. In one moment he's nice then in the next he just changes to the complete opposite. 

He walks towards the door to go out when I stop him. "Wait, how did you manage to come in cause I never heard the sound of the door." I asked as he gave me this 'why couldn't you just leave that question' look. 

"Through the window." 

"H- how did you even do it? cause I can't remember hearing any sound and how long have you been hear?"

"Easy, the normal way. I can't believe you never even knew." He said rolling his eyes. "Since when have you been here?" I asked again so he'll not escape the question. "Since last night." He replied non nonchalantly. "What?" 

If he had been here since last night it means he must have...... "What did you see?"  

"Everything and how boring you were when you talked to my mom." he said smirking. I hate it when he does that.

You've got to be kidding me, he actually saw everything? "Did you see me when I was changing?" 

"Why would I want to? I was using my phone." He said giving me a weird look. "Nice under wear by the way." He said smirking. "What the......" I said with my eyes widely opened as he quickly went towards his room. 

What's his problem. I'm sure he didn't see anything he's  just doing it to scare me. 

I walk to the closet to get a dress. My eyes trail around all of them until it meets a pair of high waist jeans and a red sleeveless crop top. How comes I didn't see it earlier. I'm so in love with crop tops, I was even thinking about taking all the crop tops from my old dresses. I guess that thought was right, I just hope the day I wear it, Josh wouldn't notice.

When I'm done, I do a slight make-up before packing my hair into a ponytail. I look at myself in the mirror. I'm sure Kayla would love it. she looks like she's into fashion from the very moment I saw her. I walk downstairs to go take breakfast when I see Kayla in the kitchen. 

"Good morning." I saw walking towards the kitchen. "Good dear, hope you slept well?" She asked as her eyes scanned what I wore before she gave me that million dollar smile that's so contagious. "Sure." I said smiling back.

"Hmmm, something smells good here." 

"Yes, it's the eggs Benedict I'm making." She said cleaning her hands with the napkin. "Wow serious? I love egg benedict's but my mum rarely cooks them." I say excitedly. "Need a hand?"

"sure sweetie. you can continue with breaking the eggs." She said as she continued with the others. 

"Edna would be coming today for breakfast and then we'll all go to house immediately after that. I don't still know why Josh hasn't yet come." 

"He should probably be on his way coming by now. I'm sure he'll be here in any moment." I said covering up for him. I don't even know why I'm even doing this. 

"Did someone just call my name?" Josh said walking with a smile as I roll my eyes at him. "Mom, I've missed you so much." He said as they gave each other tight hugs. "I've missed you more my cupcake." She said kissing him on his cheek and diverting all her attention to him. 

Cupcake? is that his nickname? it sounds really funny. He's nothing like a cupcake. A cupcake is a hundred times better than him. 

I try to laugh but I hold it so it doesn't come out. Hopefully, it works. 

"Where have you been since yesterday? you know how much I've been dying to see you but you still left for some urgent meeting. What's more urgent than us huh? you made us so worried." She said raising her head up to look at Josh. 

"Look how you've grown so big. I have to raise my head to look at you." 

"Yeah, cause the last time you actually saw me in person was five years ago." He said smiling sheepishly. "So how's college been?" She asked just to earn a stare from Josh. 

I'm sure he's probably sad that I got to know he goes to college. I smirk just to earn a frustrated stare from Josh. I could feel my subconscious jumping because of the look on his face. "It's been good. I heard you guys would be resuming soon."

"Serious?" He asked with his eyes widely opened. "Yes." She said smiling. "Oh shit. I heard him mumble under his voice as I smirk. "Oh thank God, I can't wait to resume college."

"Don't you want to resume college Josh?" 

"Sure mom, it's just that I've not put my things together." He said scratching his head. "Don't worry dear. Natalia would help you with that."

"Sure, I'm in my room in case you need anything." Josh said placing a kiss on Kayla's head before leaving me and Kayla alone.

"Sorry, I hope you don't mind if I asked you a question." I asked while breaking the eggs. "No dear, go on." 

"Why doesn't Edna live here?" 

"You know, Edna found the person she wanted to marry when she pretty much earlier so she  went to stay with him till they got married. Why did you ask?"

"No, it's nothing." I said giving a slight smile. 

"Hey guys!"
