Kate and I were in that position until we hear a knock on the door. Now who's that. I wish I can just turn the persons mind about standing there and go to some place different. Some place far away from us so the person can't ruin this moment for me. "Who's there?" Kate shouts calmly. "It's me."

"You who?" Kate asks with no clue who the person is. After all, she hasn't met anyone yet. I can tell from the voice that it's Josh but I decide not to say anything. If I did, it'd shorten the time for me to remain in this position.

"Wait, Winter is that you?" He asks probably realizing the voice is different. "No it isn't Winter, it's her sister." Kate says, disrupting the position we were in and getting up to the door which caused a little frown to appear in my face. She opens the door to meet a now surprised Josh.

"Where's Winter?" He asks rudely. "Excuse you, that's not a proper way to welcome your guest." Kate says with humor ringing in her voice. "Where are my manners? I'm Josh, Winter must have told you a lot about me." Josh says stretching his hand forward for a hand shake and peeping in the room until his eyes meet mine. I stand up from the bed and walk behind where Kate was standing.

"You didn't tell me your sister was coming over Winter." Josh says to earn a glare from me. "It's seems you've forgotten the other day Josh. The day I told you my sister was coming over and you told me to get out because of some dumb painting." I say to see the frightened look on Josh's face. It was obvious he didn't like be seen like this on his first time of meeting someone but if he actually wanted to be seen as a better person, he should learn to act as one.

"The painting isn't dumb Winter." He says with out pouring rage in his voice. Maybe he wasn't wrong about the painting but I want to defend my point and make him pay for what he did to me the other day. "Oh really, then why was she standing there so helplessly?"

"I don't know, maybe you should go ask her. She's prettier than you after all." Josh says to earn an angry stare from Kate who was almost invisible right now.

"Hello, she's a painting. I think you're running insane."

"Ok, ok, that's it! The both of you are acting so childish right now. Winter, get inside. Josh, I think it's time for to get back to your room already." Kate says banging the door.

"Is that how the both of you always fight?"

"Yes, I don't think there's any day the both of us don't fight." I say honestly to see Kate run her hand through her hair. "Winter, I know you don't like him but just try to cope with him. He might not be the perfect one but from what I saw, he's trying to but you're judging him from his past." Kate says making me laugh at the the thought of what she said.

"Past? There's no past Kate. I've been here for just a week and I've seen his true colors. This is his present Kate. Did you hear what he told me? he told me she was prettier than me." I  say regretting the last thing I just said.

I stare at Kate who was now connecting all the points together. She has to know how painful this is for me. Not the part that he said I wasn't pretty but the other parts at  least.

"Yeah you're right Winter, I can't believe I was actually supporting him. I'm so sorry little sis, I can imagine how hard this is for you right now." She says pushing the strands of my on my face to my back. "I'm gonna be here with you no matter what okay?" she says as I nod my head in reply.

"Wait, you said his parents were around right?"

"Yes, talking of which, lets go and greet them now. His mom must be in the Kitchen by now preparing breakfast." I say holding Kate's hand as we walk to the kitchen. We get to the kitchen and just as I expected, Kayla was there but this time with Edna. I could see the confused look on her face as she stared at Kate and then back at me. I already knew the question she was about to ask.

"Winter, who is this?"

"I'm Kate, Winter's elder sister." Kate says answering the question for me and bringing her hand forward for a handshake. "I'm Kayla, Josh's mom and that's Edna, my daughter." Kayla says giving her lovely smile.

I could see the excitement in their faces. It was obvious Kate's gonna get well along with them. "Wow, the both of you don't even look a thing like each other." Edna says still looking in shock. "yeah. she didn't take the brown eye gen from any of our parents."

"Why do you make it sound like brown eyes aren't cute also Winter?" Kate says staring at me. "Yes Winter, I love your brown eyes. They suit you well." Edna says making me blush a little. Nobody has ever told me they loved my eyes. Even my parents look at  Kate as the only lucky one because she got the blue eyes from our Aunt.

"Hey Winter, stop blushing I'm not Josh." Edna says as all of them burst into laughter. I try defending myself but Edna still keeps teasing until I don't even know when I start blushing the more. "Hey look, Winter's even blushing the more." Kate says and they continue laughing. We continue laughing until we get interrupted. "What's causing you guys to laugh so much. I've been hearing your voices from my room."

Kayla walks over to meet her husband who was now starring at Kate in confusion. "Honey, laughing is a good thing." She says like she was his mom which made it a lot more funnier and we all burst into laughter again.

Happiness, the moment I've been waiting for for so long to come for the past one week. Kate brought back the spirit. The spirit Josh never brought for at least the time I've been here. Maybe just once in a while but later change in an hour or two. I could see Kayla's eye on me. She was happy to see me this way.
