The dinning was quiet. Everybody was just concentrated on eating their own meal. I take one spoon of the chocolate cake Kayla made and shove it into my mouth before glancing at Josh. I turn to Kate's direction immediately he catches me glancing at him. I glance back at him thinking he wouldn't notice but then he catches  me and raises a brow. I don't even know why I'm even looking in his direction. Sometimes I wonder why my body parts go against the direction of my mind. I quickly avoid his gaze again and this time I focus on my food. The food tastes really nice but I don't know why I'm not just having a full appetite to eat. Maybe it's just the excitement that Kate is back.

"Wow this food is really nice." Kate said breaking the silence. "Thanks dear, I had a feeling you were going to love it."

"Like, who doesn't love chocolate cake. It's actually my best." Edna says giving full attention to the food. She was right though, who doesn't like chocolate cake. "Me too, but I know of someone who hates it." Kate says and I could see Tristan almost choke on his food. "What? who? That person must really have a heart of stone."

"My Aunt, Amber." Kate says and my thought went to that witch. No matter how sweet Kate was, she hated Aunt Amber with passion. She even hated her more than I did. I know if she had the opportunity to kill her, she would without a second thought. Well, no matter what, Aunt Amber deserved every bit of hatred there could ever be.

I could see the shocked expression on all of their faces well, except Josh. Well, did he ever show any expressions at all? "I-I'm so..." Edna says trying to apologize but Kate cuts her off. "No need, she's actually heartless. I guess the saying is actually true and now I see why." Kate says and I let out a chuckle.

Kayla was about to say something but held her self back and gave an understanding look. "I'm serious, if I start telling you all the things she's done I bet I would finish today."

"She's a monster." I blot out to earn a surprised look from all of them apart from Kate of course. I don't care what they think of me right now but if they should connect all the points, I was probably mad at my parents right now and Aunt Amber wasn't excluded.

"For you guys to really know a lot about her, she must probably have lived with you guys for a very long time but I don't get why I didn't see her the last time we went to visit." Tristan says looking confused. "Yes indeed she stayed in our house for a very long time but I guess she probably left when I came here."

"That explains it." Kayla says taking one more spoon from her food. "Oh, so you guys have gone to see mom and dad already."

"Yeah, sorry I didn't tell you Kate. It slipped out of my mind."

"No problem sis."

Well it just had to.

I said that part part so no one would actually hear. "I'm sorry what was that?" Kate asks but I just reply nothing after which she turns her head in another direction.

"So Kate, tell me more about yourself." Tristan asks changing the topic. "Okay, I'm Kate Ross, I'm twenty two, married, and I work in a Hotel." Kate says smiling. "Wow, nice." Kayla says as she and Tristan exchange glances. "So which college did you attend?" Tristan asks again. "I studied at Tsinghua university in China." Kate says which brings big awes to all their faces.

I know you must probably be wondering why Kate went to one of the best universities in World and my parents didn't even have any hope in putting me in any college. Well, while Kate and Jason were still dating, Jason's parents were so sweet that they promised to put Kate and Jason in the same university so they won't get separated, so they sponsored her college fees along with Jason's. Emily on the other hand, from what I heard really worked hard and the jobs she did actually paid well enough to afford her college fees to the Canadian Mennonite university in Canada. well, not without the help of her husband.

I guess that's why my mom and dad use Kate and Emily as exemplary figures that I'm meant to be like at all cost and that explains why she and dad didn't even worry about my college fees because they wanted Josh's parents to pay for it. Urgh, their thoughts make my head ache.

"Hmm.. you must have learnt how to speak Chinese then."

"Yeah, just a little. I didn't stay there for too long,  just four years."

"Say something in Chinese, from the little you know." Tristan asks desperately. "Okay, what should I say?"

"Umm, Chocolate cakes taste really nice." Edna says smiling. "Qiǎokèlì dàngāo de wèidào zhēn de hěn hǎo."

I could see the relieve in Kate's eyes when she was done. I'm sure she was definitely thanking her God that it wasn't something too hard Edna gave. "Wow, you're so fluent in speaking it." Kayla says and everybody agrees with her. Well, Josh didn't say a word at all. He was just concentrated on his phone all the while.

"Yes, but don't get me wrong, like I said, I only stayed there for four years so I can't speak much. Just the surface." I said and they gave her an understanding look. "Has Winter told you we are sponsoring her to Yale?" Tristan says. I could see how proud he was of what he and his wife were doing. They should actually be. They are really trying and to be honest, it was the last dream of mine that I actually thought would come true.

"Omg, Winter how won't you tell me this? this is big news. Mom and dad are going to be so..." She says but holds herself from completing her statement. "What's wrong Kate?" I ask with my smile changing to a complete frown. "Come on Winter, don't pretend like you don't know why I stopped."

Well, Kate was right . I Knew why she stopped. It was because of what mom and dad did to me. Leaving me all alone to come live with strangers whom they claim to know  but know nothing about. Yeah, that's definitely the reason. Kate's mind must have gotten to what they did.

"Oh,  yeah, them.
