I sniffled a little. I set the teddy bear down beside me to wipe my tears with my shirt.

"You're only 18. You don't know who you really are yet. And that's perfectly fine." He said. "Just know that I'm always here to talk. I don't want you ever to try and take your life again. Cause you have so much to live for. And you'll be taking it away from everyone else too." He hugged me tight. "I love you like a brother. And I won't loose that." He let go.

"Well you sure act one to me. You're annoying and protective." I replied.

I was trying to bring some humor into this. He chuckled a bit and agreed.

"Why don't you get some sleep. It's been a really long day." He insisted.

I nodded my head okay. He then got up and began to walk out. He stopped and turned to looked back at me.

"I want you to keep the door open. Night." He then walked away.

I know that he wants me to keep the door open because he doesn't trust me and wants to keep an eye on me to make sure I don't hurt myself. But he'll never admit to it. I went to bed hugging my teddy bear tight.

I woke up the next morning. I got up and walked out of my room. I don't care anymore. I'll just wear my boxers. I walked into the kitchen where he was.

"Nice Scooby-Doo boxers." He chuckled when he looked at me. I just shrugged. "Go get dressed. We're going somewhere."

"Where? Why?" I asked. It was 8am.

"We're going to Monterey. You can kick and scream all you want. You're going." He declared.

"What? You can't make me go." I hissed.

"Chris. You're either going there dressed, or in Scooby-Doo boxers. Which one do you prefer?"

That was the first time he called me Chris. It seemed weird but right at the same time.

I huffed and went to my room and got dressed and ready. When I walked out we went straight to his car. He made me sit in the passenger seat. I sat there pouting.

"You can pout all you want. You're gonna go see your dad. You don't have to apologize or anything if you don't want to. But you're gonna go see him. Even if I need to drag you." He declared. I didn't respond. "The silent treatment? Really?"

"Why do you want me to go see him so bad?" I eventually asked.

"Because you said that one of the reasons why you wanted to die is because you ran away. So maybe seeing them again will make it a little better. And also because I kinda wanna meet him." He answered.

"Great. Now my dad's gonna think I'm gay too." I sighed.

"He's not gonna think you're gay." He rolled his eyes. "Just because of that I'm gonna introduce myself as your soul mate. Then before we leave say soul mate as in friend soul mate."

"No. Please don't do that." I pleaded.

He just chuckled and shook his head. We talked more and listened to the radio. It's as if I've known him forever.

When we got to Monterey I gave him the address to the house. We pulled up front. He assured to me that it's okay before we got out.

He knocked on the front door. I didn't have the guts to. And I don't think I have the right to just walk in anymore. Max opened the door. And his eyes widened.
