Susan woke up feeling better than ever. She was excited about tonight. Finally, she'd get to see the Beatles live and not only that she'd get to spend more time with Ringo which was the thing she wanted most.
Barbara had unsurprisingly decided to tag along for the ride as well and was even more excited than Susan. She hadn't spoken to George since their date but it didn't bother her. She wasn't ready to face him after that night. Linda had unsurprisingly declined and said she'd rather eat worms.
As Barbara walked into the living room with her outfit on and her hair and makeup done, there was a knock at the door. She opened it to be greeted by the mailman with a package. She took it and closed the door behind her.
"Who was that?" Linda asked, sitting in her usual place at the desk, her eyes glued to a textbook.
Barbara examined the package. Susan's name was on it which filled Barbara with curiosity. She was the nosiest person ever. She sat down on the sofa and quickly opened it.
Susan walked in just as Barbara held up a dress. Her eyes widened. It was the exact dress that she told Ringo not to buy for her. Barbara then pulled out a card and went to open it.
"Don't," Susan said abruptly.
Barbara glanced at her. "Is this who think it is?" She grinned and opened the card despite Susan's warning.
Susan sighed and looked at anything but the dress. Yes, it was a nice dress but it made her feel weird. It was most likely because no man had ever bought her anything before especially something as beautiful as the dress.
"Hello, Luv." Barbara read the letter out loud. "I hope you're looking forward to tonight. I know I am. I know you didn't want me to buy the dress but I couldn't help myself. I know you wanted it and I've been fantasying you wearing it since so I thought fuck it and bought it. I'm counting the seconds until I get to see you next. Your one and only, Ritchie." Barbara looked up at Susan who was completely red like a tomato.
"That was disgusting," Linda said, looking down at the desk.
Barbara grinned at Susan. "So, Luv. You gonna wear the dress or not?"
"Well, I've got to haven't I? It would be rude if I didn't." Susan was over the moon that she had the dress but she felt cheap that it was Ringo who paid for it himself.
"Susie, this dress is beautiful!" Barbara declared. "If this was mine I would never take it off."
"I said I'll wear it!" Susan snapped back and took the dress.
"Don't take too long," Barbara smirked as Susan went to change. She looked over at Linda. "You're such a book nerd." Barbara sighed.
"Are you talking to me?" Linda asked, her eyes fixed on her book.
"Duh. Do you think I'm talking to the walls?" She said sarcastically.
"I can't tell you're so confusing," Linda replied.
"Ugh just come with us Linds." Barbara stood up and walked over, resting her arm on the end of the desk.
"No thank you."
"Come on. You'll love it. You might even meet someone." She grinned.
"Well obviously, the world is full of people." Barbara groaned and walked away.
"Suit yourself."
A few minutes later, Susan emerged from her room in the dress. Barbara stared at her.
"What?" Susan asked. "Is it too big?" She looked down at her stomach.
"No." Barbara finally said. "It's fucking amazing." Barbara sighed. "How am I supposed to compete?" She moaned.
Susan giggled. "Shut up, you're amazing."
"Can he buy me a dress?"
"Come on." Susan laughed. "Are you sure you'll be ok?" She turned to Linda.
"I'll be even better than ok," Linda answered.
"Great. Bye, miss, I stick books up my arse." Barbara shot.
Susan and Barbara left and got into a taxi, heading to the club where the gig was.
Linda sighed with relief. "Finally. Some peace."
