Chapter 16: Nightmare

Susan woke up in the middle of the night and glanced down at Ringo's arms securely wrapped around her. She turned and looked at him in all his beauty. He seemed quite protective but she kinda liked that about him. She traced her fingers along his hand, recounting the events of last night. This man took her virginity. After their second fight too. They already seemed like an old married couple which scared Susan to death. Was she even ready after all? Ringo was no ordinary person. Would people find out? She watched him sleep for a moment, he looked so peaceful.

She slowly wiggled out of his hold and put on her bra and panties. She still didn't feel confident about her body even after everything that happened. Maybe she never would. Her mum would kill her if she found out what she had done. Barbara would probably high five her. Shit. Where was Barbara? Susan should've been worried but it was Barbara. That girl could take care of herself. At least she hoped.

Susan looked back at Ringo to check he was still sleeping. He arms were now clutching the sheets that she once inhabited and his breathing had increased a little but he was still fast asleep. She smiled and leaned in leaving a soft kiss on his cheek.

"Don't go." He said in his sleep. Susan pulled away, a little startled. Was he talking to her? He was asleep after all, he was probably just dreaming. She shook away the thought and went into the bathroom.

She looked in the mirror, her face looked awfully tired and her hair was a complete mess. She sighed. She couldn't possibly get a shower now. She wouldn't dare wake Ringo up. She washed her hands and rubbed her face, giving it some life. It was so dry.

Suddenly, she heard a loud moan and her eyes widened. That didn't sound good. Was it Ringo? She opened the bathroom door a little and looked over at him. He was breathing fast as if he was gasping for air and he was tossing and turning in the bed. She could hear him whispering but she couldn't tell what he was saying. Sometimes he would shout and moan.

"Please." He cried out. Susan raced to his side.

"Ringo?" She asked worriedly. "Are you ok?"

"Don't go!" He cried again. Susan kneeled and grabbed his hand.

"I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here." She answered, still unsure who he was referring to. Ringo stopped for a moment, his breathing was still off though. "It's me, Ritchie," Susan said softly and rubbed his hand. Ringo must have recognised her voice because his breaths began to slow down.

"Don't..." He stressed. "Please..." He sounded breathless, desperate. He must have been having the worst nightmare Susan thought. Poor Ritchie.

"You're ok," Susan said gently. "I'm not going. I'm staying right here." She reassured him. "I'll be right back." She said, getting ready to go get a glass of water in case he woke up.

"No!" He whined, squeezing her hand to death.

"Ok." Susan quickly replied. "I won't then. I'll stay with you." His grip weakened and his breathing slowly returned to an average pace. Susan looked around. She couldn't stay like this for the rest of the night.

"Ritchie." She whispered. Ringo was still a little distressed and was whispering inaudible words. "Can you let go for a moment?" He didn't react, his hand was still clutching hers. "I need to get back into bed." Still no reaction. "Please..." After a moment, he slowly let her hand go.

"Please." He whimpered. Susan got back into bed beside him and took his hand in hers again.

"It's ok. I'm with you." Ringo instantly took her in his arms, holding her tightly to his chest. Susan could feel his heart racing against her. His moans ceased and his breathing was fine again.

Susan shook it off as just a bad nightmare. He'd never mentioned it though. Maybe he'd think that she wouldn't like him for it. It didn't matter to her. Everyone had nightmares. She felt so bad for him. He seemed so distressed. Did this have anything to do with his girlfriend?
