Summary:

If you’ve ever fantasized about killing your teacher, you’ll probably love it, and that might by why Japanese middle schoolers relate to it so well. One thing is different though, as this teacher is Koro-sensei (Fukuyama Jun), an alien that destroyed the moon and threatens to do the same to Earth, unless his students can kill him. Shiota Nagisa (Fuchigami Mai) is one of those students, and he and his classmates are trained in the art of assassination with the help of the government, in order to take down their teacher and save planet Earth.

Own opinion:

I have to admit Ansatsu Kyoushitsu is a strange one. The manga is already a massive hit, and has been since its debut. It ranked as the 10th best selling manga of 2014, one of the very few series to achieve such a feat without an anime to boost its sales. In short, its popularity is already through the roof. Ansatsu Kyoushitsu is wish fulfillment for many, and it’ll be interesting to see how many more are caught up by its premise. And I’m one of them. Its my fulfillment to see the anime adaptation of this manga. I’ve been reading the manga from the beginning, and I’ve always felt that it would be more suited to an anime, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the director, Kishi Seiji (Angel Beats!, DANGANRONPA, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita) translates this story to the screen. Definitely one to watch out for, if only for how massively popular it is. And! This is number two on my winter 2015 list.
