it had been some time since you were allowed to complete the remainder of your medical care in your own quarters; your large gash was now a mere scar as the advanced medication the nurse droids had given you made the process of healing speed up.

the baby had grown slowly, but to your much observant eyes, you felt as if you could see your belly grow larger by the days. you knew you sounded crazy, but excitement littered your mind, making every rational thought vanish from you as you laid in bed with just the two of you; your hand drawing circles over your skin when a knock on the door sounded loudly.

you give acceptance to the knight outside the door, watching as a small frail body emerged from behind the door

"ah hello, my sweet darling" alice watched you sit up slightly before she waved at you- telling you to stay laying down.

"alice, how are you?" you reach for her hand; grasping it in your own as she takes a seat on the side of the bed next to you.

"i'm well dear, and you? i came to see you while you were in the medbay a few times, but you were sound asleep; i didn't want to wake you" alice's voice instantly made you relax everytime you heard it; bringing comfort with the past days that you had not been mentally present.

"i'm well, so well" you say, giving alice a wide smile as you place your hand on your abdomen.

alice smiles back, using her free hand to rub your arm lightly.

"i am so very happy for you, empress- you deserve all the delight in the galaxy. how has the emperor taken the news" alice's eyes suddenly grow with worry as she watches your smile falter a bit before you regained yourself.

"he has been present since hearing of the baby, but he has also been distant as well. he never leaves me completely alone- there is always a knight at the door, he sleeps next to me in bed in order to be sure of my safety, and i wake up every morning to a fresh bouquet of flowers on my nightstand. yet, he is never with me during the day as i sit here alone, and he rarely speaks to me unless it is to do with business of the first order" you spill to alice; letting the words you held in for so long flow from your lips.

alice smiled fondly at you before speaking "and yet, you lov-" she says before you cut in

"alice...please..."  you trail off as you advert your gaze momentarily before you look into her deep blue eyes again

alice raises her hand up slightly in defense before speaking "i understand, you feel it, but you aren't ready to admit your feelings to anyone but yourself... you know, you remind me of someone" alice's eyes sparkle as she relives old memories.

you laugh, a confused look splashes across your face; unsure of what she means. alice takes a deep breath as she scoots closer to you on the bed.

"a long time ago, when i was about your age, i was just starting out as a seamstress. a young, noble woman needed my hands to make her beautiful gowns; as i was the best in those times. i would push my limits for every dress, making each one better than the last. you remind me of her in so many ways; your smile, your kind heart, your drive to show just how strong you are. she let no one in her way- no matter who it was. one day, she met a boy, and by the stars did she love him; but just as you, she was terrified to tell him of how she truly felt. she was damaged by him; making her shed tears almost every night he was gone, but she continued to love him, no matter how reckless and destructive he could be" alice smiles as she pictured her younger years in her mind, you listened as she sighed softly.
