Allison's POV:

"Okay," Kira nervously breathed out beside me as Malia adjusted her mirrors. "Hands on the wheel at ten and two."

Malia puts her hands as instructed. "Actually, the recommended position is now nine and three." Lydia spoke up from the front seat. "At ten and two, a deployed airbag could break your thumbs."

"I think what Lydia is trying to say," I emphasize, giving Lydia a stern look, "is put them where you feel most comfortable within those two positions."

"Yeah..." Malia cleared her throat. "My thumbs would heal anyway."

"Save your strength," Lydia emphasized. "And try not to destroy your beautiful new car. Nine and three." She reminded before moving Malia's hands to the correct position.

Malia turns the ignition, the engine revving to life before she lightly pressed on the gas to move at a slow pace.

"All right. Just ease into it." Kira encouraged, discreetly gripping my arm with a hesitant smile as we continued down the road. "Good, good, okay. There you go."

"Please shut up." Malia spoke up and from the mirror, I could see her grit her teeth.

"No problem. Shutting up."

I took notice of how Malia was turning too far left, inching closer and closer offroad.  "Malia, turn a little--"

"Other way!" Kira spoke up, slightly panicked. "Other way, Malia. Other way." She continued to drive, hitting a small bump as she drove on the dirt instead of the road.

"We are now off the road." Lydia sighed and my eyes widened, seeing that Malia was veering more into the dirt. "This is not the road."

"Malia, turn the wheel to the right." I spoke up but Malia kept the wheel at the same spot.  A couple of seconds later, a beeping sound goes off. "Oh god."

"Malia, please go the other way!" Kira pleaded as she reached over for my hand and gripped it tighter. "Sorry, Allison."

"What is that? What is beeping?" Malia asked with slight frustration.

I lean forward a bit, seeing that the screen read Pre-Collison System Alert. "It means you're about to crash into something. You have to--"

"Turn the wheel." Lydia breathed out and I look up, seeing that she was close to wrecking the car by crashing into a tree. "Malia!"

Malia abruptly turns the wheel at the last second, sending Kira's body to slam into mine with a grunt.

"And try to stay on the actual road." Kira grunted as I rubbed the side of my hip. "Sorry again, Allison."
