Phoebe's POV:

Mason, Brett (who decided to visit during his free period from Devenford Prep), and I watch as Hayden and Liam practically had their own competition between their two different sports on who could score better.

Whenever Hayden would kick the soccer ball into the goal, Liam would throw his ball with the lacrosse stick which would instantly hit the net.

While watching, we were discussing the types of things to look out for for a Chimera.

"I don't know guys," Brett says, glancing between Mason and I. "everyone at Devenford's pretty abnormal to me."

"What else is there to look for?" Mason curiously asked.

"I mean from what I've seen there's heightened strength, smell, hearing, speed, healing, and uh..." I listed off at the top of my head.

"Able to see in the dark." Brett added and I nod in agreement.

"Glowing eyes."

"Visible scorpion stingers protruding out of limbs." Mason added and I nervously bit my lip, remembering the scar on my side was gone.

"Yeah, or three-foot lizard tails." Brett muttered which earned a chuckle from Mason.

We continued to watch a few more intense shots from both Liam and Hayden, until Liam threw his shot against the goalie's chest, causing the guy to stumble inside the net.

"Sorry!" Liam quickly apologized as he ran over to help him.

I rest my chin on my hand, leaning forward a bit as I watch Hayden continued to kick more shots in the goal. "What do you guys think of Hayden?" I casually blurt out and my eyes widen in realization. "I mean like think of the whole hatred thing to Liam. Like how did it all start?"

"Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing too." Brett added.

"Sixth grade," Mason answered. " And not the best year for Liam's anger management issues. There was a..." He trailed off as he pulled out his phone for us to see him click on his yearbook tab. "this fight in the hallways, Liam and this other guy. Hayden sort of accidentally walked into it and...this is her yearbook photo."
