RUN AWAY..
Magkahawak kamay kami ni Ran habang papalabas ng mall. He took me on a date.
Nung papasok na siya sa kotse hinawakan ko siya sa braso.
“Bakit?”
Umiling ako at tapos niyakap siya.
“Why? Is anything wrong?”
Umiling ako habang yakap siya.
“Gusto lang kitang yakapin,” I said.
“Kinakabahan ako pag ganito ka," sabi niya.
Isiniksik ko ang sarili ko sa kanya.
“Thank you sa date. I really enjoyed today.”
Hinagod niya ang likod ko.
“Talaga? I’m glad you did.”
Umalis ako sa yakap at tinignan siya sa mukha.
Gwapo si Randolf. He’s more handsome than Khy. He’s also more romantic and more manly than Khy. He’s sweeter than Khy. He’s better at Khy in so many ways, but why?
Why do I love Khyree and not him?
“Don’t leave me Karen. I swear hindi ko kakayanin.”
Umiling ako.
“I’m going to forget him Ran. And I’ll focus on you.”
“Really?”
“Really," I said smiling.
Niyakap niya ako.
“I’ll love you more each day, until my love gets through you. Hanggang sa mahalin mo na rin ako.”
“Just give me a day with him. I want to say goodbye to him properly.”
“A day it is. After that day, come back to me. I’ll be waiting for you.”
“I will. I will Ran.”
Later that night, nakahiga ako sa kama ko and I’m just staring at the ceiling. Ang daming tumatakbo sa isip ko.
I keep on weighing the situation, considering Klara, Ran and Khy. Whatever option, may masasaktan. I wish our situation is less complicated than what we have now.
But then, I promised Klara.
Kinuha ko ang phone ko na nasa bedside table, and then I dialed Khy’s number.
“Khy..”
[Christ! Is this you Emily? Are you really calling me?!]
Halata ang pagkagulat at saya sa boses niya.
“Do you want to have a date with me?”
[WHAT THE F*CK! HELL YES!]
Nailayo ko sa tenga ko ang phone. Napatawa ako.
“Are you that happy?”
[Yes Emi. I am. Just hearing your voice right now feels surreal. I feel like I’m dreaming. And a date? Am I dreaming Emily? Is this a dream?]
Sana nga.. sana nga panaginip nalang lahat to.
“Silly. You’re not. Let’s have a date tomorrow. Be mine for tomorrow Khy.”
[I’m yours Emily, for tomorrow, for the day after, and forever.]
Napangiti ako.
“I love you.”
