Michelle and Jefferson had been in his office for hours.
"The french are rioting," Michelle groaned as she just put the kids to sleep.
"That is my people for you, but I shall lead them into victory," Lafayette said.
"That's not if they tear each other apart first," Jefferson made a snarky comment. Michelle nudged her brother in the ribs and Lafayette looked at him hurt and in shock.
" The french have been here longer than the pilgrims in ze America," Laf yelled. Michelle wacked Laf in the back of the head.
"The kids are finally asleep, I swear if you two wake them up you both will put them back to bed while I rest, understood!," Michelle whispered yelled at her brother and husband. They both looked like little kids in trouble being confronted by their mother.
"That's what I thought, we can pick this up in the morning for now get some shut eye, say hi to Martha and dear ole Sally for me brother," Michelle walked past both of them going to the bedroom and settling down for bed. Jefferson sighed and walked up to Lafayette.
"I'm sorry, we'll pick this up tomorrow, sleep well Laf," Thomas walked out on his way to his home in France. Lafayette got ready for bed and laid by his wife.
"Kylie," Alex said at the door. Kylie looked up with a cloth in her hand.
"Let's get you to bed," Alex muttered. He walked over to her and sat down on the bed.
"I heard what happened... I put Philip to sleep," Alex whispered and took the cloth out of her hand and tossed it. He sighed watching his wife zone out as she looked numb, but hurt at the same time.
"I'm pregnant," Kylie whispered.
"Excuse me?," Alex looked at his wife dumbfounded.
" We're having another kid, a sibling for our son," Kylie looked up at him. She quivered her lip and closed her eyes and let out a sob and cry. Alex held her close.
"We'll be okay, our family is okay and safe, I know you and your sister will come along again, but I'm here for you and I love you," Alex kissed her forehead as she cried into his shoulders. Alex comforted his wife until she fell asleep. He picked her and laid her down correctly on the bed. He laid down in bed, taking an exhausting break from work. He held her close rubbing small shapes against her back until he too fell asleep.
John knocked on the door waiting for his wife's response. It was their bedroom, after all, he opened the door to find his wife laying on his side facing away from the door. He walked closer to her.
"Tati, can we please talk about this, I'm sorry," John said quietly.
"I cleaned up the kitchen, and changed Max's diaper, settled the kids to bed," John got on his knees at the bedside and waited for his wife to respond.
"I understand that you're angry, you have every right to be, I should've told you sooner, I'm bad at communication, but it doesn't excuse my actions earlier, I just wanted alone time with my wife before going down to the south," John sadly chuckled. Tatiana sighed and turned her body facing John.
" You can't keep hiding things from me, I don't like arguing in front of the kids, I understand you want alone time with me, but you can't keep going on like this," She whispered. John hesitantly took his wife's hand and stood up.
"You're in my spot," John sadly smiled. She pulled her hand back and scooted herself to her side of the bed as John sat down.
"No boots on the bed," Tatiana raised her voice, John took his boots and set them aside.
"I'm sorry, look if you don't want me to go then I won't next time I'll discuss it with you, I can reschedule the meeting later," John whispered.
"You don't have to do that," Tatiana sat up, looking at him with seriousness in her eyes and tone.
"Yes I do, you deserve a better husband, you're right we are partners, we discuss things and plan them together, so please next time please tell me when the in-laws are coming," John chuckled.
"I'm sorry on my behalf of not telling you that my father and mother are coming up so late," Tatiana looked down. John smiled and took his wife in a nice big hug.
"I love you, Tatiana," John sang out.
"I love you too John," Tatiana shook her head in his chest blushing.
"Goodnight my love," John kissed her forehead and laid down. Tatiana soon lay beside him as well. They looked deep into each other's eyes until they both fell asleep.
For once it was quiet in New York City.
