Death affects us all differently (Bucky x reader)

You had been injected with something bad, "24 hours you have left." Echoes in the back of your mind. That was almost 14 hours ago.

Bucky and Steve finally came to rescue you with the rest of the team.

"We've got word to Tony. But he won't be here for another few hours. Let's keep going." Steve said, you nodded.

You walked along side Bucky and Sam, you leaned into Bucky too help keep you up. "You okay doll?" He asked looking down at you, "peachy keen sergeant." You said with a small smile.

You walked for what felt like forever. "Steve, can we rest up u til Tony gets here. I'm tired and I'm sure my ankle is broken." You said.

You could feel your pulse was getting weaker, you'd walked off to go for the toilet and Sam walked up as you'd finished. You began to cough, "you okay Angel?" He asked, "Sam. I have something to tell you. I know your strong and you'll look after them. I was injected with something, I don't have much time." You said, Sam looked at you. "I need to rest and then hopefully I can go in my sleep." You said leaning against a tree. "You want me to lie?" He said, "no I'm trying to protect the person I care for most in this world." You said, Sam nodded, he helped you walk back over to them.

You snuggled up next to Bucky, he had wrapped his arm around you. Your legs were behind Steve's back touching. "Steve tell me your happiest memory." You said, he explained saving Bucky's life and finally getting his date with Peggy, Sam's was getting his new car but it was his worst memory because the winter soldier ruined his car and Wanda's was finally being free of Ultron. "Bucky?" You asked, "the day Steve found me. And the day I locked eyes with you." He said with a. Smirk, you were getting sleepy.

Tony came with the jet and picked you all up. You were laid out in the back with Bucky, he was sat up and had his arm wrapped protecting ubfer your arm. "Tell me when you fell in love Buck?" You asked, "I feel inlove with you when you took my metal arm, the thing I hate most in the world and you put it to your face, you weren't afraid, you weren't weirded out by it as you saw it as me not something different", you had drifted off to sleep.

Bucky looked dkwn and placed a kiss on your head, "I love you James. More than life itself." You said kissing his metal hand.

You arrived back at HQ and you had finally passed away in the comfort of Bucky's arms. Bucky couldn't handle it, Steve was going to take your body into the compound but Bucky insisted he wanted to do it. He picked you up so delicately and walked you over, Steve, Wanda and Sam followed behind and so did Tony. Everyone came to greet you on your way in, the animosity in the air and there eyes shot to Steve and he shook his head as a tear dropped.

Natasha came out of her room last, she looked too Bucky then to Steve, Steve went to walk over to her and she dropped to her knees and he pulled her in for a tight hug, "she's gone." Natasha cried out.

Steve needed to get back to Bucky but he couldn't leave Natasha. Sam followed on and Clint took over Natasha as he walked into the room.

Steve didn't know what he was going to do with Bucky, he'd lost the person he cared for most in the world, other than him.
