Six months earlier "I didn't mean to." Steve said softly, "what do you mean you didn't mean too? Your lips just happened too fall upon Sharon?" You said crossing your arms across your chest, "it was a mistake, it won't ever happen again." Steve said, a single tear dropped down your cheek, "it's over Steve." You said getting out of his car, he drove along side you, "get in and let me drive you home." He said window open, you ignored him and carried on walking.
As Steve walked into the tower he was greeted by Sam, "no y/n?" He asked, "we, we, erm, we broke up." Steve said sadly, "what do you mean you broke up?" Sam asked, "I, I, kissed Sharon." Steve said as his head hung low.
You stayed in touch with Sam, you and him had become close while you and Steve dated. Come by the tower tonight, Stark is throwing a party and says your invited. You looked at the text as you got into your car, you and Steve had been broken up for three months, surely that was long enough to be able to be in the same space as him without crying. The taxi dropped you off outside Stark Towers, you looked up and remembered the feelings you used to get before you walked in there, there were maximised as you were no longer dating America's sweetheart. You took a deep breathe as you walked in.
Your nerves were getting the best of you, you proped up the bar and were greeted by Nat. "Hey Y/N, how you doing?" She asked, your eyes scanned the room and then landed on Nat, "only time will tell, I haven't seen him in three months so your guess is as good as mine." You said taking the drink Nat had made you.
"Well if it isn't the finest girl in New York City." Sam shouted as he walked over, he caught the attention of Tony and Steve. Sam walked over and dropped his arm around you neck and pulled you in kissing you on the forehead. "How you doing Sammy?" You asked with a smile, "I'm doing good, how have you been doing?" He asked, "I see the star attractions are walking over. We'll see how I'm doing shortly." You said smiling.
Tony walked over and spun you around, "look at you. Caps crazy to have let you go." He said, "aren't you dating Pepper?" Steve said as he joined, "dating pepper or not I'd give it all up for just a night with y/n." He said with a smirk, you laughed and then looked up at Steve, "may I get you a drink?" He asked, "of course." You said.
You spent a lot of the evening talking to Steve, Sam came by every so often as well as Tony. "I've got to be going. I got a big case tomorrow." You smiled, "it was great seeing you again, would you like to go for dinner tomorrow night?" Steve asked, "yeah, yeah. That would be nice." You said smiling too yourself.
