Chapter 7 (Re-Write)

"Her quirk has been dubbed Ani-Transform. The ability to change herself into any animal she pleases. She also can change individual limbs although so far it has only been done by accident." Shouta and Hizashi listened on. Iruka had been having quirk counselling ever since Nezu came to visit. A few sessions later and Shouta finds a bird perched atop his head chirping happily. Any other time he would be annoyed but apparently, he has a soft heart and can't say no to the kid.

"I'm sure both of you know that she will have a few more sessions until she can properly control her quirk although it seems as though she has a decent control over her full body transformations."

"Thanks for telling us doc," It was weird. Being the guardians of the kid he rescued. Irhe and Mika had been found guilty of mainly child abuse amongst other things which left Iruka to fall under the system's hand but frankly, Shouta was having none of it. The discussion wasn't long between himself and Hizashi and before long they had a kid in their custody. It was made easy due to their hero status as well as their emergency fostering license and for that, they were both grateful.

"Alright kiddo we can go to the garden like I promised." Shouta heard a happy chirp as they left the room.

There's a lot Shouta learned about Iruka over the past few days. Her love for animals and nature as a whole were more or less a pleasant surprise. Her fascination for rain but the uncomfortable look she made upon hearing and seeing thunder and lightning. Finding comfort in curling up in corners.

Spending time in the hospital's gardens and the playroom was definitely Iruka's favourite thing. Learning was also something she adored. Learning about the world around her. Nezu would often visit on the promise that he would tell her something new each time. These visits were also persuasions for Shouta to be a teacher at UA. Unfortunately for Shouta, the principal made some great points.

Iruka would be discharged within the next few days which left the couple a few days to sort things out. Their work schedules, room decor, even their eating habits would need to be sorted out considering one of them consumed more jelly packets than actual solid meals.

"You ready to come home with us Listener?"

"Y-Ya," Iruka, adorned with the dress Nemuri had gifted her upon hearing the news, climbed into the back seat with Shouta taking a seat beside her.

There was still so much Iruka didn't understand and Hizashi wanted to teach her all. The closest opportunity would be bringing her shopping. It's a trip he'd been hyping up to her for a while. A chance to decorate her new (permanent) room as well as pick out clothes for herself. But that's a trip for tomorrow or maybe even later into the week because right now they were introducing her to her new home.

The drive itself wasn't exactly eventful but nothing snuffed out the shine of curiosity in the little girl's eyes. Pointing out signs and dogs that were being walked. Asking about cars and traffic lights. It all felt like a mini-adventure to her.

Soon they pulled up a driveway.

"Alright kiddo, this is going to be your new home," Shouta unlocked the door and led Iruka in. She heard the patters on the floor being faced with 3 cats.

"Kitties!" She jumped and changed into a cat before rushing to meet them.

Shouta watched to make sure that their cats took on their new housemate well. Satisfied with the way Cappucino protectively curled around the black kitten he went to help Hizashi unload the car.

The next time Shouta saw them all was when they were all curled together on the couch. Seeing as Hizashi would be handling lunch he decided to take a nap with them.

"What-what this?"

"Those are pancakes Listener," Iruka looked at her plate curiously. She recognised the fruit, she had them all the time at the hospital. The pancakes on the other hand were different.

"We could make you a sandwich if you're not up to anything new kiddo." She shook her head and poked the pancake with her fork. She giggled when the thing flopped around. It was amazing. It was light and much sweeter then the sandwiches and porridges she had.

"We have tons more Listener so feel free to ask for more,"

"Ok!"

"Once we're done with lunch we can have a full tour of the house," Iruka nodded excitedly.

Iruka looked absolutely delighted as she walked around the house. It was 2 stories with three bedrooms at the top. The master bedroom, which was Shouta and Hizashi's room, was just across the hall from Iruka's own. Next to that was another room that was used as a storage room.

"Tensei and Nemuri crash here pretty often so it was logical to get a home that could accommodate for that or for emergency fostering," Shouta explained.

"Like me."

"Like you."

Hizashi joked about how Nemuri would need to sleep on their couch if she stayed over to which Iruka insisted she'd share a bed with auntie if she could.

After showing the upper floor bathroom they moved downstairs. There was an office that had been doubled as Hizashi's radio room on days he could do his radio show from home. There was also another bathroom and a tiny storage room under the stairs that mostly hold all of the cats' things that weren't being used often.

They ended the tour with where Iruka could get anything she needed. Snacks in the cupboard. Cat treats in a special locked drawer. Free-range of the toiletries (of course with the promise from Hizashi on teaching her how to use it all).

"Just remember Iruka, you can ask for anything you need if, just let us know."

"Even if it's something hard to get in the moment, we'll talk about it ok?" Shouta continued.

"Yup."

"Now that's settled, how about we watch a movie,"

Shouta didn't even try to complain about the 3 hero movies they watched, not with the way Iruka looked like Shouta and Hizashi had helped her to hang the moon and the stars.

I think you may have noticed some of these chapters have been labeled Re-Write chapters, don't worry to much about it since it's mostly for my sanity.

So I came to the conclusion that I'll be posting both re-write chapters as well as normal chapters every other week. There are chances changes will happen in the near future but I'll try to stay consistent and keep y'all updated.
