Chapter 23

All the Todoroki babies are so squishable

Once everyone had gotten to training Beta Iruka had finally gotten the chance to see everyone in their hero suits. Iruka noticed someone had their costume designed pretty similarly to Ingenium if not exactly alike. Iruka's hero costume wasn't anything special. It was a sweater with some pants but Iruka's favourite part was the utility belt around her waist and the small compartment boxes she had made so she could use little items she found useful over the years. Some of those items being a first aid kit, rope and a blanket. Iruka was wearing a pair of sneakers and of course, she had her capture gear.

"They say the costume is what makes the hero and ladies and gentlemen you are the proof. Now from this day forward you are heroes in training." All Might announced.

While All Might was explaining how training was supposed to go, everyone started to ask him questions rather rapidly. He had to take out a script which seemed rather amusing to some but for Iruka, she could tell teaching wasn't his strong suit. He explained to them the situation, 2 teams villain and heroes would go up against each other. There was a time limit and partners were chosen at random. At first, Tenya whom Iruka noticed was the one in the Igneum costume was about to protest but Izuku pointed out that heroes from other agencies often have to team up on the spot.

After the lots had been drawn Iruka was paired up with Ochaco. "Look at that we're partners." Iruka nodded and they waited to see who would go first. Unfortunately for Iruka she and Ochaco were one of the teams that had to go first. But semi luckily for her she was going up against Katsuki and Tenya. There is no way Kacchan would be able to work well with Iida considering what kind of personality they both have so I'll have to play this one based on how well I know Kacchan.

"Woah this building is huge, how are we going to find the bomb?" Ochaco said looking at the map that they were given,

"Well the most logical course of action would be to put it in the boiler room because that would cause the worse damage but considering how this building has no boiler room I'll take a guess and say it's one of these floors," Iruka explained as she pointed to the higher floors.

"Wouldn't it be on the second floor or something?"

"It might so we'll check there first but we can't necessarily check every floor so I guess you might have to trust my gut feeling on this." Ochaco nodded. She wasn't sure what to think anyways.

When the test started Iruka and Ochaco went into the building and headed straight to the second floor. Iruka sniffed the air to see if there were any odd objects around. Iruka shook her head and they both started to head up. Instead of climbing each flight of stairs, Ochaco had made herself lighter and Iruka changed into a bird and flew up, holding her partner in her talons.

They had reached one of the highest floors before Iruka stopped mid-flight. "Something the matter Iru-chan?" Iruka slowly placed Ochaco on the floor before changing back.

"Head up, the bomb will most likely be 2 floors up. Stay hidden I'll join you in 5 minutes max." Iruka had gotten into a stance almost as if she was protecting something. Ochaco was confused but she didn't question it. She sounded so confident about this. Hope I become as confident about these things soon.

Once Ochaco had headed up Iruka looked around. Her goal was to make sure at least one of them got up to the bomb. She sniffed the air again when she felt a shiver through her spine. Give her time Iru.

"Don't think I don't know what you're doing Whiskers!" Katsuki yelled as he sent an explosion her way. Iruka jumped out of the way changing into a honeybee. "I can see you Whiskers." Katsuki ran towards her making another explosion. Before the dust had even cleared Katsuki found himself getting punched in the face with something furry.

"You should know better than to do that Katsuki." Iruka smiled a little. As Katsuki was about to make another explosion Iruka changed into a hummingbird and flew right past him. She changed back and used her capture gear to grab on to Katsuki, pulled him towards her and kneed his back. "I've practised using this you know."

In the viewing room, her classmates watched in awe and confusion as Iruka did her best to restrain Katsuki.

"Woah that scarf is super manly."

"That looks like Mr Aizawa's capture gear kero."

"Indeed it does. Do you think she had it made based on Eraserhead's own?" Momo said.

Everyone had been impressed at Iruka's fight with Katsuki. At the moment Iruka had Katsuki tied in her capture gear. I can't get close to him to use the capture tape and I don't know what exactly is going on with Ochaco and Iida. Iruka barely had time to think. Although Katsuki was tied up he was still able to move. Because they were in a small corridor Katsuki used that to his advantage. He used his quirk to propel himself forward, dragging Iruka with him. "Let's see how well you can handle a big blast Whiskers." Katsuki had pulled his hands out loose while Iruka had been distracted and he pulled a trigger that was on his gauntlets.

There was a massive blast sending Katsuki flying backwards and because Iruka still had him wrapped in her capture gear she too was sent flying straight out a window. Katsuki smashed the glass behind him and the second Iruka was outside the building she unravelled Katsuki from her capture gear and transformed into a large albatross grabbing Katsuki with her talon placing him on the ground and flying back up.

Iruka went through the broken window and headed up through the stairs. Once she reached the level she saw Ochaco chasing Tenya who was holding the bomb somehow. Tenya had been too distracted with Ochaco to realise Iruka had jumped onto the bomb. He had only realised when All Might announced it on the speaker.

"Woohoo! we did it Iru-chan." Ochaco celebrated.

"Oh uh ya. OH SHOOT WAIT!" Iruka changed into a hawk and flew down 2 floors before shooting out the broken window. She saw Katsuki and flew down to him. "Kacchan are you ok? I'm sorry I left you like that. You aren't hurt are you?" Iruka panicked taking out her first aid kit.

"Fine Whiskers, just a few scratches." He scoffed.

"Let me see." Katsuki reluctantly showed his neck where the glass had cut him.

"What happened here?" Tenya asked once he and Ochaco had finally reached the bottom.

"Fight injury is all. Let's head back to the viewing room now that your wounds are patched up." Iruka explained as she helped her friend up.

When they reached the viewing room everyone congratulated the hero team and all gushed over the fight between Katsuki and Iruka.

"You guys did well," Izuku said when he saw his best friends.

"Indeed you did now, let's review how that went." All Might then proceed to congratulate Iruka and Tenya who were most in character during the entire activity. Katsuki was told off for making such a large explosion indoors that could've injured more people.

Since Katsuki had been only a little injured he was allowed to stay and watch the others in their battles. Iruka watched intensely as her classmates battled each other. She was excited for the battle between Izuku with Shoto and Toru with Ojiro but the battle ended as soon as it had started. Shoto had frozen the entire building making it impossible for Toru and Ojiro to move since their feet had been frozen to the ground. Poor Toru had cold feet for a while. It seemed Shoto had some kind of heating quirk since he melted all the ice that was around them.

I hope it didn't feel to boring. Originally I wanted to have Iruka team up with Katsuki but eventually scratched that idea. If you guys want I could make that an extra chapter to see how that would've panned out.

I haven't been doing much writing lately thanks to school and my own lack of motivation so maybe I'll take a break next week though I'm not too sure.
