(POV: SIMON)

Another day, another boring shift guarding this stupid wall. At least Foolbright wasn't here this time. Just good old Maggey Byrde and Dick Gumshoe. Much better than stupid Fulbright.

"... and then I got ran over by a stupid cart... again. Isn't that just terrible?" Maggey was telling a story about her misfortune to Dick but Simon wasn't really listening. The scenery before him was just so drab and boring that it couldn't help but draw his interest to look for something... anything. Simon sighed and took a step back to get a better look, yup still nothing. What was the point of guarding this area anyway? No one ever tried to invade. Why was this place so boring? He should just leave, find something fun to go do. But on the other hand, that could be considered insubordination and he could get executed for leaving. Wouldn't want that to happen. His sister would kill him again if it did. All of as sudden, the conversation his fellow guards were having droned to a halt. They bustled with some sort of tension, almost like someone way higher up than them had arrived on the wall. Ha! As if. There was only one person they would react like to, and Simon knew for a fact that he was working in the palace today.

"Blackquill, come with me." He flinched as someone clamped a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey! Where are you taking me?!" Simon shouted as his 'captor' dragged him off the wall. What in the world was going on?!

~~~
His 'captor' turned out to just be Captain Edgeworth. One crisis averted, he hadn't been kidnapped without good reason. And now he was in the middle of another crisis. What in the Holy Mother's name did he want with him?! Given how forcefully he'd dragged him here it had to be something important. If it was something important that had to do with Simon, it was never good.
"Sir... if I might ask, why have you brought me here?" he asked, glancing around the small office. Breathe, Simon. It can't be that bad. Or it could. Who knows anymore?
"You're getting reassigned." But why? He'd been doing so well on the wall. It was the worlds most boring job, but at least Simon knew how to do it properly. Oh Holy Mother, hopefully, his new assignment wasn't to the military. He was almost tempted to start praying, but he wasn't quite that desperate yet.
"To where sir?" he asked. And why now?
"To His Royal Highness Prince Nahyuta Andreas Sahdmadhi Khura'in's personal guard. As of late, he's received quite a few assassination threats from our neighbouring countries, so his parents have decided to get him a guard to be with him at all times. That, and the fact that he needs more friends."
"The prince?! You can't be serious!"
"Oh, I assure you, this is in all seriousness." Simon stepped back in shock, his back hitting the wall almost instantly in the tiny room. Someone like him couldn't possibly take on such a responsibility! And with him at all times?! What was that supposed to mean?! Did the Captain literally mean he had to be with the prince... always?
"Sir, I can't-" Captain Edgeworth held up a hand, stopping Simon in the middle of his sentence.
"I'm afraid you have no choice Blackquill. His Highness was informed of the fact that he's getting a guard ... and he requested you by name. He seems to have taken quite a shine to you."
"I guess I have no choice then..." Simon said reluctantly, sighing and pressing a hand to his forehead. The Captain passed him a new set of clothes. Oh great, this job came outfitted with a fancy uniform. Wonderful. What sort of weird twist of fate was this? He'd never expected to meet the prince, and certainly not like this. The Holy Mother had to be screwing with him.
