(POV: NAHYUTA)

Nahyuta was starting to get rather fed up with the way Simon Blackquill behaved around him. He clearly hated him and was apathetic at best to the work. Why had he taken this job in the first place if he was just going to act like he hated it? Simon couldn't care less about protecting Nahyuta, so was it just about the extra money? That would make him a real scumbag if that was the case, he was already a fairly rich nobleman, he didn't need any more money. Nahyuta stood from his desk, opening the door and poking his head into the hallway.

"Hey panda. Why did you take this job? You clearly dislike me and I doubt it's for the money." he said, staring at the tall man before him. He glanced in Nahyuta's direction, scowling when he saw his face.

"Why would that matter to you? As long as you have someone to protect you, it wouldn't matter who it was." he said, glaring at him. Was he trying to intimidate him? How cute. He wasn't scared that easily.

"Yes, but I asked you why you accepted. I could've asked literally anyone and yet I chose you and you accepted. Tell me why that is."

"I didn't have any reason in particular, I just felt like I had to more than anything." he said after thinking it over for a second. Was that really the only reason? Or was it something more? Nahyuta wanted to know what motivated this man, what made him tick. Did that mean he liked him? Absolutely not.

"Are you sure that's it?"

"Almost certain. You see, Your Highness, I don't have anything I'm particularly passionate about, so it doesn't matter what I do as long as I'm able to do it to the best of my ability."

"You sad, pathetic man." Nahyuta said, smacking him in the face with his braid as he returned to his room. That was certainly not the answer that he'd been expecting, especially not from Simon Blackquill of all people.

That night, for the first time since Simon had become my guard, Nahyuta ate dinner with my 'parents' and Rayfa. His 'mother' and 'father' seemed to be intimidated by Simon and he absolutely adored that. Good be scared. Although it wasn't a very solid reason, he'd finally found one to start to be able to like Simon Blackquill.

"Does he have to stand there like that? It's starting to scare me a little." his 'mother' said, gesturing with her fork to Simon.

"Are you aware of the fact that he has ears, Mother?" Nahyuta shot back. He was getting fed up with playing family with these people. It was grating on his nerves, he sometimes wished that he hadn't allowed Dhurke to send him here.

"Well, I think he's rather likeable. Like, a panda or a cuddly skunk." Rayfa said, happily clapping her hands together.

"And are you aware that skunks are actually quite vicious creatures?" His attack was directed at his little sister this time and she took rather well, for a crybaby.

"Nahyuta! Don't be rude to your little sister!" Inga shouted, pounding his fist on the table. He couldn't even with him anymore, slimy bastard. He'd spent half his life in debt and was liable to spend the other half in jail. Stop pretending, his father was a way better man than he'd ever be.

"I'm going back to my room. Come Simon." Nahyuta said, standing from his seat and leading the way back to the walls where his entire life was housed.

~~~
Nahyuta paused at his door, unsure of what to do. What he was thinking was by no means proper, but he didn't care anymore. He turned to face Simon, leaning his back on the door.
"Please come in." Nahyuta said, pushing on the door handle and gesturing for him to enter. As far as he knew, this was the first time he was seeing the other side of the door, so it had to be a treat for him.
It soon ended up being awkward, as he had little other to do than to watch him change into his bedclothes. As Nahyuta slipped off his shirt, he noticed him staring at his back. He must have noticed his tattoo. The mark of Defiant Dragons was branding in bright black ink on his back and Simon stared at it as he turned to face him.
"If it wouldn't be too much to ask-" Nahyuta cut him by smacking him right on the cheek. How was he supposed to know that he hated people asking about it? The poor man didn't know any better.
"Out! Now!" Nahyuta shouted, pointing at the doorway. If he stayed, he would ask more questions and he wasn't exactly in the mood to answer any of them. He nodded and got out there as quickly as he could. Good, he wasn't stupid. Nahyuta blushed, thinking of how hard he'd been staring at him. He quickly shook it off, finishing changing his clothes and crawling into bed. He blushed again, thinking that maybe he should've answered him about my tattoo. It was important to him after all. Nahyuta glanced at his right hand, tracing the dragon mark that was there as well with the fingers on his left hand. This wasn't just something to get flattered about, it was his main goal in life, the entire reason Nahyuta had allowed himself to be embedded in the royal family like this. He would kill that despicable woman, for Dhurke and Amara. For Rayfa... and most of all for himself.
