Seorin snapped her head up, holding the icicle towards his face in the air.
He let out a dry chuckle, putting his hands up jokingly. "No need to get feisty, Baek."
Letting out a deep exhale, she dropped the frozen water to the ground. She examined his appearance, seeing he was dressed in just a t shirt and sweats. Faint bags formed under his eyes faulting his usually smooth skin, his eyes dark and void.
"I seriously can't get rid of you, can I?" she mumbled, facing the river once again.
"I could be saying the same thing to you." he retorted leaning against the metal railing, heating it up with just his touch. In the palm of his hands, he ignited a small fire ball, throwing it into the body of water.
The sound of it sizzling to nothing filled the silence between them, only smoke resurfacing as it's last remains. Seorin furrowed her eyebrows, wondering why he would just throw fire into the water for it to burn out.
"Why are you here?"
He didn't bother turning around, repeating the same process to hear the faint sound of the flames being put out. "A guy can't take a walk anymore?" he responded.
"Well it's three in the morning on a full moon, kinda weird for a fire shifter to be out, don't you think?" she laid her chin in the palm of her hand, making the frames of her glasses tilt on her face.
Jisung stayed silent, continuing to throw useless fireballs into the river.
"Why do you keep doing that? It's gonna smell like smoke." Seorin grumbled, approaching the empty spot beside him on the railing. His gaze didn't flicker away from the grand body of water, seeing the cloud of smoke float above the surface.
"You seriously ask so many questions." he murmured, sensing her presence near him. Seorin stayed quiet, not wanting to waste her energy pestering him to answer.
"It's harmless throwing fire into water, helps me get my mind off of things without causing any damage." he shrugged. The moonlight reflected off his hair, but unlike Seorin's, his illuminated a dark red hue when shown in the light. Her gaze was fixed on his, practically drilling holes into his side profile.
"I mean, the smoke can cause pollution." she mumbled under her breath, earning an annoyed look from him.
"Not my problem, the air department can handle that." he proceeded to light another flame, throwing it into the water for it to disperse almost automatically.
Seorin twirled the liquid in the river with her fingertips, the same indigo light reflecting off of it. Jisung's mouth parted slightly at her skill, but he quickly recomposed himself, concealing his impression.
"What's on your mind, Park?"
Her voice was soft, silky like the waves that came and went. Unlike Jisung, she held no remorse in her tone, her kindness slightly irritating him in a sense.
