For a second I laid there, thinking the doorbell was part of the weird ass dream I was having.
But then it rang again.
I groaned, got up, threw on some shorts and hurried to the door.
It was barely light out.
I opened the door to bright green eyes shoving a cup of coffee at me
I chuckled a little.
I was a little nervous, I still didn't know how i felt or how to talk to her about it.
Me: Why are you here so fuccckinnng earrrly?
She smiled and pushed her way in to the house
Charley: I wasnt sure what time you were getting Ella today.
I took a sip of the coffee and felt it rush through my veins.
Yum.
Me: Not until later. What's up?
She blushed a little and set her coffee on the counter
Charley: Well, i figured... since both kids were gone this morning...maybe you'd like that raincheck?
Yes.
No.
What?
Fuck
But I couldn't turn her down. No way.
But i also knew i wouldnt be able to keep focused. And that wouldn't be fair. Or enjoyable. And if she was really offering what we had talked about.... I wanted to focus on that.
Charley: or not, its okay
She kind of nervously chuckled. I sat down and sighed
I ran my hands through my hair and dropped my eyes to my feet.
We need to talk about it. Get it all out. Clear my head. But how? What do I say?
"I think I'm falling for you but i thought i had already met my soul mate"
She sat down next to me, but not next to me. She wasn't close enough.
Charley: Emory?
"I think I'm falling for you, but if my dead wife was still here Me and you would never have happened"
If Annie were still here I would be fine. I would be a whole person.
I could feel tears welling up in my eyes and i hated it.
"I dont know if i can handle seeing you mother my child in her place"
"I think i love you"
What if she's not ready to hear it? What if she runs for the hills?
Could i lose her too?
What about Danny and Ella? Would that fuck up their relationship?
Could i just keep going without telling her how i feel?
She scooted closer and put her hand on my thigh
Charley: You're scaring me...
I finally looked up at her beautiful eyes.
She'd see me upset and think I'm still too sad for her.
Her face softened and she grabbed my face wiping away my tears
