I got up from the couch a few nights later, and decided to take a page from Tylers book.
Me: You need anything while I'm up?
She gave me that shy smile and I already knew what she was going to ask for. I chuckled and rolled my eyes
Me: What kind?
She thought it over before answering
Charley: Rocky road! Will you put extra syrup in it? Pleeeeease?
I laughed and headed for the kitchen
Me: I don't know how you're not 600 pounds yet.
I heard her laugh from the living room.
Charley: Would you still love me?
I shrugged even though I knew she couldn't see me.
Me: I'd at least have to try calling Dr. Now. But if he was booked, I'd still love ya I guess.
A complete joke of course. Charley could weight 6,000 pounds and I'd still love every belly roll. I laughed to myself as I pictured her fat little cheeks. I scooped some ice cream in a bowl and grabbed myself a water before coming back. She held out her greedy little arms with a big smile.
Charley: I don't know. I've just been craving sweets! Maybe I'm getting ready to start my period.
She picked up her phone, I assumed to check her period tracker. I laughed
Me: Maybe you're pregnant.
She laughed, but it was cut short. I looked over at her stunned face, and laughed
Me: What?
She started counting on her fingers, I just stared at her with an eyebrow raised. She finally looked up at me.
Charley: Shit....
I nervously chuckled.
Me: What?
She turned her phone around to show me her period tracker.
Me: Oh.
She basically threw the ice cream bowl at me like it was on fire
Charley: I have to go to the drug store.
Me: Why?
She looked at me with wide eyes, before she whisper yelled
Charley: To get a pregnancy test Emory!
I laughed. There was no way she was pregnant. She was on birth control. And... and..well...
shit.
She started to walk to the door to slip on her shoes and I hopped up. It hadn't hit me yet. Not really. I guess I didn't want to get my hopes up, but my body was moving without even thinking about it.
Me: No, you stay. I'll go.
Charley: We'll both go.
I laughed. clearly she was freaking out, her brain wasn't working.
pregnancy brain?
shit.
Me: So, should we wake the kids up to tell them we're getting a test to see if they have a new baby brother or sister? Or leave them and let them just figure it out while we're gone?
She cracked the tiniest smile and smacked my chest
Me: Ow. Don't hurt me. I could be your next baby daddy, you need to treat me with a little more respect.
