The next morning I woke up feeling....Weird.
I don't know how to explain it. I was happy but not? I felt off.
I threw on a shirt and followed the sounds of girly giggles into the living room. I stopped at the corner and listened in.
I know I'm being creepy. But I was curious. What kind of stuff did girls talk about that they couldnt talk to their dads about?
Ella: I don't knowwww. Hes mean to me around his friends, but nice to me at snack time.
I bet it was that little Hunter kid. I wonder if I could pay another kid to beat the shit out of him?
Charley: That's not a boy you should waste your heart on El. You want a boy thats nice to you all the time, no matter whose around.
That's pretty good advice.. But I wasn't taking my option off of the table yet.
Ella: Do you have a boyfriend?
Danny: Mommy was married to daddy, but daddy's in heaven now.
So now my hearts in pieces.
Ella: Do you go on dates like my daddy does?
Charley: Does your daddy go on a lot of dates?
Nosey girl.
Charley: No, don't answer that. I have gone on dates, yes.
Danny: What do grown ups do on dates?
Ella: Do they eat pizza and play games? That's what me and daddy do on our dates.
Charley: Sometimes.
I started to feel guilty, so I came out from the hall
Me: Good morning ladies
Ella ran up to me, I picked her up
Me: Did everyone sleep ok?
Danny: YEP!
Ella: YEP!
Charley just looked nervous again. We had made a break through on the couch last night, I fucked it up. She was closed off again.
Charley: We really have to get going.
Ella and Danny hugged, we all said our goodbyes. Me and Ella plopped down on the couch
Ella: Daddy?
Me: Yeah babe
Ella: You should go on a date with Charley, she's nice.
She is nice. But how do I explain to her that can't happen?
speaking of dates. I had one. Tonight. With the girl Tyler wouldn't shut up about.
But I decided, if I can feel these things with Charley, I can feel them with someone else too. I had to take Dr. Winters advice and open myself up.
The girls name was Stephanie, and we were going bowling.
I picked her up and once she saw the Jeep, she begged me to take the top off. I was always down for taking the top off, so that's what we did. Her long brown hair whipped and twirled around, she smiled and stuck her hand out of the window letting the wind blow it up and down.
I paid for a game and we sat down at our lane, slipping our shoes on.
Stephanie: They have food and drinks here. Do you want anything?
I pulled out my wallet as she stood up
Me: I'm alright, let me get it. What do you want?
She waved me off and walked to the counter.
