Chapter 23: My Dark Secret

(Rits' POV)

"yes.. I know.."

"(I'm sorry, but I need to tell it to them. I might lose my license.)"

"wait! I'll do it. But... please... Give me some time."

"(I'm afraid you only have a little time.)"

"Yes.. I know.. I know.."

"(So better rush miss Reenaive, before it's too late.)"

I ended the call.

I wasn't able to hold my tears anymore

so I cried.

Yes, it's my doctor.

He said I'm getting worst.

My life span is not that long.

I might live for months.

the result before was POSITIVE.

I do have skin cancer.

cancer cells were triggered and energized and became active because of my tanning and bleaching procedures before.

my doctor already warned me about the complications, but then I was really that stubborn that I came up this way.

I pity myself.

I can't even have my own family anymore

or I can't marry my rainbow

or I can't be with him any longer

and the most painful,

I can't bear a child and watch them grow, mature and develop as the days pass by.

there, I realized.

this is the prize of my stubbornness.

as the scripture says, everything that you do, there is a consequence that would follow.

If I could just turn back the time, I might live for many years more.

But, there is no such thing as time machine.

you cannot turn back the time once it passes over,

so we need to treasure our time because it's as precious as gold

and think twice before doing a thing.

because I don't have any choice, I really need to inform everybody about my condition because it is their right especially Terrence.

But not now. Because once they would know about that, they wouldn't treat me normally and that would irritate me and make me sicker.

my sickness isn't that noticeable because it attacked my dermis which is inside my skin, that is why it appeals to be normal outside.

I am afraid if I can still wake up tomorrow because as we all know, cancer is a silent killer.

I MIGHT DIE ANYTIME.

and that's the fact!

(Lacey's POV)

grabe! I'm really excited! our wedding will be next month!

at hindi pwedeng mawala ang maid of honor kaya personal kong ibibigay ang invitation kay Bestie!!

I am now heading to their apartment..

dahil kilala na ako ng house keeper nila, pinapasok agad ako and so I headed directly to Bestie's room.

papasok na sana ako kasi napansin kong sumisiwang ang pintuan ni Rits kaso, may narinig ako kaya huminto muna ako at mariing pinakinggan ang sinasabi ni Rits na siyang hindi na nagpatahimik sa akin.

nakaloud speaker yung phone niya kaya naririnig ko rin ang kabilang linya.

ngunit di ko naintindihan ang pinag-uusapan nila.

hindi maganda ang kutob ko.
