Ren didn't care that it was almost 10 PM. He needed answers now. Celeste was terrified, he could sense it, and he didn't want her to be anxious for a single moment more, not if he could help it. He walked briskly to Hux's quarters, only getting slightly lost, he'd only ever been there once or twice.
Ren knocked on the door loudly. Hux came to the door, hair disheveled, looking annoyed.
"What?" He asked loudly. "This better not be about work. It's late, and I have plans tonight." He said, slowly starting to shut the door. Ren propped it open with his foot.
"Oh don't worry. It's not. Sit, please." He said, thankful his helmet seemed to be slightly scaring the admiral.
"What is this about?" Hux yawned.
"The strange blankness in your memory when Cele-when my pupil got onboard. I want to get it back."
"My mind is my business and mine alone. Get out."
"Oh really? Then I'm sure you'll be happy to explain to Snoke why you directly opposed his orders?" Kylo bluffed, raising an eyebrow under his helmet. Hux's eyes widened, before he sighed, and sat in a chair in his room.
"Fine. But only that memory. Everything else is my personal business alone. Don't you dare look at anything else." Hux said. He sounded suspicious. Yeah, Ren was definitely going to see what that was about.
He reached easily into Hux's mind, pushing past their recent conversation, past the last few months, past Hux kissing Celeste. Ren's blood boiled but he continued pushing. As he attempted to focus on the blank spot in his memory, one large, loud thought was distracting him. Ren sighed and looked into it instead, deciding to circle back around to the blankness. Hux tried to resist, but it was pointless, he was already in.
It was a plan.
A plan for Celeste.
Hux planned to sneak into her room that very night. Ren watched what Hux was imagining would happen with utter disgust. His anger radiated off of him, nearly visible. He had never been that angry, and that was saying something.
Kylo watched as Hux ran his disgusting hands along her body. Watched as she attempted to fight back. Watched as Hux overpowered her and tied her down roughly. He watched the rest of Hux's disgusting fantasy play out, forgetting completely about the blank spot in his memory he has been trying to retrieve. When the fantasy finished, Ren pulled back and realized he had been choking Hux against the wall.
He didn't even care. He watched as the pathetic, disgusting, pitiful, frail man struggled against the force pinning him aggressively to the wall. He watched as the air drained from the man's lungs. He watched as he struggled to breathe, and he felt no compassion. Only unbridled rage.
After who knows how long, Hux became limp. Whether he was alive or dead, Ren cared not. He stormed back to his chambers, his eyes blinded over by fury. The second the doors of his room closed behind him, he really processed what he had seen. His stomach lurched and he rushed into his bathroom discarding his helmet onto the floor just in time as his stomach emptied its contents into the toilet. Kylo groaned and wiped his mouth with a nearby washcloth. He stood shakily and gripped the counter so tightly his knuckles turned white.
He stared at his own reflection in the mirror. Sweaty and trembling, he looked pathetic. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Hux doing unspeakable things to Celeste.
He broke down, and for the first time in years, a tear streaked down his face. He almost laughed. The feeling of a drop falling from his cheek was so unfamiliar. His laughter quickly turned into sobs, and he shook, still gripping the counter.
Kylo was thankful he had gotten there in time to stop Hux, and he vowed to always be there. He vowed to always protect her, as tears fell like rain, dropping into the sink with a quiet sound.
