"General, I need a ship, now," Celeste said, "We don't have any more missions, the First Order is gone, and I only need it for a few days."
"Vega, I've told you before, I don't think it's a good idea to go looking for your friend, he obviously wanted to leave, and going after him might not be safe," Leia sighed.
"General, you don't understand, please, it's important," She pleaded, more desperate. "I can give you something in return, money, my service for the next 10 years, anything,"
"Elle, she isn't gonna let you, drop it," Poe suggested as he walked past.
"Shut up," She rolled her eyes. "Please, general, I'll do anything."
Leia sighed and shook her head slightly, looking down.
"Go make sure he's safe," She instructed, waving her away. "Take a two-seater, and be back soon."
"Yes, general, I will!" Celeste smiled. "I told you!" She ran over to Poe and shoved him lightly.
"I never doubted you for a second," He smirked.
"I'm leaving now, tell Finn I said bye, okay?" Celeste was already running back to her room to gather some things for the trip.
"Hey, isn't there just one problem?" Poe asked, following her.
"Mmh?" She asked, distracted, as she slid her saber and knife into her pockets.
"How the hell are you gonna find him? We didn't have the chance to put trackers on the ship yet, you know," He leaned against the door frame and watched as she adjusted her hair in the mirror.
"Why do you always doubt me, Poe?" She asked, sighing, "I've got this, you'll see. I'll see you when I'm back!" She pulled him into a one-armed hug briefly, before slipping under his arm and running out to the take-off field.
~~~~~
Poe might have had a point, how was she supposed to find him? Celeste sat in the pilot seat of the two-person craft, just outside the atmosphere of the planet hiding the resistance base.
She sighed and closed her eyes. Why would he leave? They'd have figured out a way to explain it to the rebels eventually, and he could have stayed on the base for at least another few days, right? She groaned and leaned back, staring at the ceiling of the ship.
"Where are you, Ben?" She murmured, not expecting an answer.
"It's better like this," She whipped her head around, eyes wide. He certainly wasn't in the tiny ship with her. Was she finally losing it?
"What are you-where are you?" She demanded, thoroughly confused.
"It doesn't matter. Stay with the rebels. It's safer," Ben instructed.
"Why did you leave? What are you hiding?" She pressed.
"It's a long story. There's someone on the base I can't let see me," It was nice to hear his voice, after over two months of separation, even if she was incredibly irritated with him.
"Who?"
"My mother."
~~~~~
"So that guy from the vision you didn't want me to see, he was your...?" Celeste asked.
"I'm not talking about it anymore," He said.
"Hey, that was barely an explanation! Where are you? We need to talk more."
"We shouldn't see each other." Celeste groaned as he stopped replying, no matter how much she attempted to speak to him. She cursed under her breath. She thought back on all of their time together. How could he just throw all of that away? She'd saved his life, a few times, even.
Celeste remembered the time he was so injured, lying alone on the floor of a cell on an unfamiliar planet, and she had found him and healed him. He looked so helpless and so thankful she was there, and now he had just left with no warning? It was like he wasn't even the same person. Then, her eyes lit up. That time, she had tracked his energy, letting the force guide her through the hallways.
She closed her eyes and pictured him in her mind.
"Come on Ben, come on," She muttered, clenching her fists in her lap. Then, her eyes shot open, and she could almost see the line connecting them. She cheered for a moment before shooting forward, following wherever she was pulled.
~~~~~
When Celeste arrived at his planet, she hovered for a moment above the atmosphere, looking down. What if the general was right, what if he really didn't want to see her? She shivered, then took a deep breath and steered down, her intuition guiding her. She hoped he'd be happy to see her, or at least not too upset.
