JD swept his leg over the back of his bike. he wasn't wearing a helmet tonight. He looked around and spotted me. I waved slightly and he waved back, sauntering over to me. "greetings and salutations" he said. he had a rough voice, it suited him.

"glad you could make it" I say.

"why aren't you with the Heather's?" he asks.

"it's just Heather C and Veronica, and I lost track of them" I explain. Suddenly a door at the side of the house slams open. we go quiet as the two girls coming out scream at each other. "it's Heather... and Veronica" I whisper. I glance at him in confusion before taking a quick glance around the corner.

"Transfer to Washington, Transfer to Jefferson!..." Heather yells. I turn back to JD.

"Heather mentioned setting her up with someone. It must have ended badly" I explain in a whisper. The argument ended with the sound of Veronica heaving up on Heather's shoes. Some more was said before Heather marched back to the party and Veronica walked toward the front of the house. I quickly ran off the porch and over to her, JD close behind.

"Veronica! Veronica!" I called. She stopped and turned.

"Jane, not right now" she said. "I feel really sick" she said.

"what happened? Are you alright?" I asked.

"I'm fine, I'm going home"

"do you need a lift?" I asked.

"no, I'd rather walk" she said. she didn't seem to notice JD as she turned and walked away down the street toward the bus stop.
