RAKSHIT'S POV
The soft morning sunlight filtered in through the cream colored semi transparent curtains and spilled upon the white marble floor of the cottage.
I sat up on my bed, yawning. Beside me, Sikhar was fast asleep, the sheets drawn up to his chin.
Rashi was also sleeping peacefully, curled up on her cot.
I checked my watch, fifteen minutes to seven.
I descended from my bed and took a quick shower. I got dressed and called the room service for a cup of coffee.
While my coffee was served, I went near the window and drew back the curtains.
The warm sunlight poured in now, unrestricted and trickled my face.
Through the window, I saw that the window of the opposite cottage was open, the curtains drawn back, and there stood the girl with the red scarf, Drishti.
Unlike yesterday, I got a good glimpse of her face today.
She had a fair complexion, the beauty of which was heightened by her deep brown eyes, now glinting in the sunlight.
Her pointed chin and sharp jawlines enhanced her beauty even more. She was wearing a lemon yellow kurti and her dupatta was lying on the windowsill. It looked like she had just washed her hair, because it was dripping wet and she was trying to dry it with a cotton towel.
Throughout my entire life of twenty four years, I have never found myself attracted to a woman in a romantic way before.
And here I was, admiring the simplicity of a girl I barely knew.
But there was something sad in her eyes, the spark was missing.
I shut the window, but I felt a sinking feeling in my heart. I didn't know if it was for the girl with the red scarf, or the upcoming lunch with Lavanya's family.
~
Lavanya - Oh! Rakshit baby! You are finally here.
I hadn't realized how much I actually hated this voice, until I heard it, after so many days.
As usual, Lavanya was overdressed.
Her green sequinned short dress clung tightly to her body, exposing much of her fair, shaved legs, while the upper part of the dress cut into a deep V neck on her chest and exposed the little cleavage she had.
Her hair was curled tightly and the countless layers of makeup was more than evident on her face.
Gold chains, bracelets and diamond rings hung from her thin body at the respective places.
Me - I am fine, Lavanya, perfectly fine. And you?
Sikhar cringed behind me as Lavanya swirled her long fingers and stroked the side of my face.
I pulled apart, just enough to let her know that I was not comfortable with the touch.
Lavanya - I am abosulutely fine too. Thanks for asking.
Rakshit baby, why don't you go and meet my mom, she is upstairs. And after you are done, you can drop by at my room.
She winked at me.
Just to avoid her lustful stare, I went upstairs to meet her mom.
Is this the girl I truly wanted to marry?
Lavanya's mom is a very tasteless lady and when I say, tasteless, I mean no disrespect to her.
Just like Lavanaya, she has been spoiled her entire life, with riches and luxuries that she would, I doubted, ever acquire on her own merits.
