DRISHTI'S POV

I pushed open the door of the rest house and stepped inside, a gush of warm air rushing past me. The reception was dimly lit, the only source of light being a chandelier hung at the centre of the ceiling, casting a yellowish glow around the room. Everything was the same as I remembered it from two years back, the red threadbare sofa, the dirty glass windows, the white washed walls, even the man behind the wooden reception desk was the same. The manager of the rest house looked at me, a dirty gleam in his eyes. I could feel his gaze lingering on my body.
I closed the door behind me and walked up to the desk, my eyes burning. I knew that there was no way I could back out from this now, not when I have come so far.

~ "Excuse me, I am looking for an Akash Kashyap, is he staying here?"

He scanned me one last time and then told me to wait, before picking up his phone and proceeding towards a corner. After ten minutes of continuous whispering and suspicious glances, he finally returned to his desk. He did not utter a single word, instead pulled out a key and handed it to me.

~ "372. First floor, right side."

As I climbed the short flight of stairs, I could feel the manager staring at my back, my skin cringing under his gaze. So, this was it. I was standing at the turning. Sorry, I was standing at the edge of self destruction. There was no turning back from this, no running backwards. There were no saviours, no super heroes who would come to save me. Actually, maybe I was wrong. Maybe fairytales did exist, happy endings did exist, maybe it was me who wasn't the princess. Maybe it was me who did not deserve a Prince Charming or a happy ending.

Room 372.

I took a deep breath, calming my nerves and I inserted the key into the tiny keyhole. There was a click.

I pushed open the door to my doom.

                                ~

~ "Buttercup, what a pleasant surprise! I knew you would come, I knew it. You love me, don't you buttercup?"

I closed my eyes, the tears streaming down my face as his hands lingered around my waist. There was no escaping from this. But at least, at least he deleted the video from his computer, at least now my sister's life will not be destroyed. Yes, I gambled with him. I told him to delete the video in exchange for my body. He fulfilled his part of the gamble in front of my eyes, now, it was my turn to give him what he wanted.

~ "Buttercup, you love me right?"

His mouth was so close to my neck that I could sense the reek of alcohol.

~ "Buttercup, say you love me!"

His voice rised.

~ "I don't love you."

I looked into his eyes. No, I did not love this beast, this inhuman piece of shit.

He pulled out his belt and slashed it across my back. My skin burned but I tried not to react.

~ "Say you love me! Say! Now!"

~ "I don't love you!"

My voice shook. Another slash. I cluctched the bedsheet, sealing my lips so that no scream would come out. No, I will not bend to this beast, never!
But I could not stop the tears.

He dropped the belt and sat beside me on the bed. He tried to prop my chin towards him, but I kept my face turned away from him. He used force and pulled me towards him, kissing my neck. He pinned my arms painfully on the headrest, so that I could not bother him while he used me.

~ "Buttercup, I have waited so long, so long to touch you -"

He tore my dupatta and threw it on the floor.

~ "Nobody will find us here, buttercup, nobody. It's five in the morning, looks like we are going to have an amazing time."

He tried to kiss me, but I turned my face. He forced my chin towards him and started kissing me, but I did not reciprocate.

~ "Playing hard to get, are you? But don't worry, I will -"

He pulled over my kurti and started biting my stomach, I bit my lips, but a scream escaped from my mouth.

~ "Shhh... Don't scream buttercup -"

                                ~

The door flew from its hinges and landed on the stone floor with a ravenous thud. My entire body shuddered.

And there, in the dark passageway, stood my super hero, Rakshit. But how did he find out where I was? Not even Divya knew where the rest house is - then? Maybe I was dreaming. Maybe he was just a fragment of my imagination and will evaporate just like my happily ever after with Akash did.

He looked extremely angry and he pulled Akash from top of me with a powerful motion of his hand. His eyes were stone cold, deathly.

I could barely move, my entire body ached. I knew I was bleeding because there was blood on the bed, but I couldn't figure out from where, every body part of mine had gone numb.

There was no fight, everything was pretty much one sided. Rakshit threw Akash to the floor, then picked him up and slammed him in the wall, again and again. The wall was stained with blood, dripping to the floor. Both Rakshit and Akash were covered in blood and I was unsure of who bled the most. I had never ever seen Rakshit so violent, beastly.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he threw an unconscious Akash to the floor and came near me. Our eyes met and his deadly glare melted into a worried gaze. He helped me sit up.

~ "Drishti - we are going home. I am calling the police and we are telling Maasi everything."

I merely nodded before he scooped me up in his strong arms, everything blackening out in my vision.

                               ~

I dreamed of fairies and princes, of demons and monsters, of us. Us - me and Rakshit. I saw how we first met, bumping into each other. That day, neither of us had thought that fate would bring us this far. But we met and the magic happened. The magic that will bring the prince and princess together in the fairytale. I might not be a princess, but I have found my prince, I have lived my fairytale. And the funniest part - this was not the end of my story, I realized that this was just the beginning. The prince and princess have met and their story is yet to unfold...
