RAKSHIT'S POV

Quite a number of things happened the next morning. Divya twisted her ankle so severely on the marble floor of the kitchen that she could barely walk, Sikhar had to carry her around to her room. But I suspected that they were faking the entire thing, judging by Divya's high pitched and immensely unrealistic wailing, topped off by the looks she exchanged with Sikhar. Drishti and I suggested calling in a doctor, repeatedly, but they refused each time, holding the fact that Divya hated going to the doctor. Well, this was a bit of truth, 'cause I had seen Divya keen on avoiding doctors at any cost, the last tine she fell sick.

But why would they fake? I realized the answer a few minutes later when Sikhar proposed that he wanted to cancel our returning tickets, which were due today. I agreed reluctantly, knowing that Divya needed the rest, which is, if she had actually twisted her leg. As soon as I nodded my head in agreement, they hastily changed the topic to something utterly irrelevant to Divya's twisted ankle.

My suhagraat. Sorry, our suhagraat. Mine and Drishti's.

The one thing I did not understand - how our suhagraat was related to Divya twisting her ankle.

But Divya and Sikhar stood firm on their point. According to them, our marriage has been a proper one, but we have done none of the rasmein (Yeah, as if I don't know how sanskari Divya is)! They wanted us to perform the rituals and by rituals, they meant suhagraat. Drishti blushed profusely at the mere mention of the topic and omitted herself from taking part in Divya and Sikhar's enthusiastic conversation.

Honestly speaking, if I had twisted my ankle, I would be a little too worried to plan someone else's suhagraat. But Divya looked the most energetic and enthusiastic. She sent both me and Drishti out of the room and planned things out with Sikhar.

After an hour, she told me to take Drishti out for lunch, and to make sure that we did not return before eight o'clock in the night. Pestered by her childish demands, I decided to take Drishti out. But that wasn't the entire truth. I was somewhat glad that I would be getting to spend time with Drishti.

We roamed the local markets of New Delhi and I bought Drishti a red scarf - quite different from the one she owned. Thanks to her, red scarfs have become very special for me.

We had our lunch at a restaurant and then we strolled some more. The hot afternoon moulded if self into a fine evening and the evening gave way to a magical night. Time was passing too fast today, wasn't it?

As we walked home, I wondered, even if we are supposed to be having a suhagraat, would something actually happen between us?

                                ~

Dinner with Divya and Sikhar was almost peaceful, the exception being the naughty looks that Divya kept throwing me and Drishti. Drishti smartly avoided Divya, looking up only rarely from her plate of Aloo Poori.
After dinner, we both tried our very best to disarm Divya and Sikhar from the idea of our suhagraat, but they did not listen.

In the end, we had to surrender.

Divya careered Drishti off into a room on the other side of the hall and I had no option but to follow Sikhar into his room.

He handed me a festive white kurta and matching white pants and ordered me to change.

~ "Sikhar, yeh sab kya bachpana hai -?"

~ "Bhai, koi bachpana nahi hai. You love bhabi, bhabi loves you -"

~ "How do you know she loves me?"

Sikhar rolled his eyes.

~ "It just happens to be so that I am not blind! Now change!"

Having no counter debate, I reluctantly changed, wondering if I had a chance with Drishti.

I emerged from the washroom, clad in the kurta and pants and Sikhar whistled.

~ " Wow, bhai! Bhabi is one lucky girl."

Usually, Sikhar was a little careful with his dirty talks around me, but these days (since Drishti has entered my life), he had become a lot more daring.

~ "Sikhar -"

~ "Bhai, please! Here, take this. Give it to bhabi, it will make her happy."

He extended towards me a red rose.

When I did not extend my hand, still hesitant about the entire thing, he tucked the rose inside my breast pocket.

~ "Perfect - no wait -"

Sikhar reached forward and messed up my hair. He picked up some body spray from over his dressing table and sprayed it all across my entire body.

~ "Bhai, always remember, girls like guys who smell good."

He slid a watch upon my left wrist, and then took a step back to look at me.

~ "Amazing! Hmm, let's see, I think that we are missing something - but what? Hair, done! Deo, done! Watch done! Oh - wait! We forgot the most important thing that you need for your Suhagraat!"

Well, according to me, I have everything now, except for some respect from my little brother.

Sikhar rummaged in his bed side drawer and pulled out a very small square packet, black with white writings all over.

~ "Here."

He tucked this too in my pocket.

~ "What is this?"

~ "You really want me to explain?"

He smirked.

I pulled out the packet, my eyes widening as I read the heading.

~ "Sikhar, I don't -"

~ "Bhai, please! Wait a sec, I gave you only one. Take a few more. After all, I am sure bhabi will be looking very gorgeous tonight."

I sighed.

With that packet of condom, I knew that I have forever lost the respect in Sikhar's eyes.

I wondered what treatment Drishti got from Divya, probably something even more awkward.

Sighing again, I walked towards our room, quite nervous, but also excited, wondering how beautiful Drishti would be looking.
