DRISHTI'S POV
In the past two weeks, nothing much had really changed, that is, except Rakshit's behaviour. Since the day Meenal Kaki and Sourav came to stay with us, he has been behaving extremely weird and kinda overprotective. I tried asking him about this sudden transition, but he kept beating around the bush at first and then changed the topic later. I did not force him, because I was a little afraid of invading into his private space without his permission. But, surprisingly enough, my insane little sister had an entirely different theory behind this weird behaviour of my husband. According to her, Rakshit was jealous. Why would he be jealous? Divya had yet another far fetched theory for this question. Rakshit did not like the fact that Sourav was hitting on me, the sight of someone trying on his wife made him jealous and overprotective. I waved aside Divya's not so baseless assumptions. After all, Rakshit was behaving a little weird.
Divya always encouraged Sourav to flirt with me, especially when Rakshit was nearby or keeping an eye on me (which was almost always) to prove her point. But I got tired of the constant flirting and cheesy pick up lines, yet, there was no way I could avoid Sourav. He followed me everywhere - the kitchen, the living room, even at the study during my reading sessions. I got so irritated that I stopped reading in the study, I started keeping my book upon the bedside table in my room. But he didn't give up, he kept flirting and hitting on me.
Tonight, as I sat down to dinner, I saw Divya, Sikhar and Sourav exchanging mischievous glances. What now? Throughout dinner, they kept looking at each other and smiling, all of which I tried to ignore, but I knew that something was cooking.
After dinner, mom, chachi ji and Meenal Kaki got up and went upstairs. They usually sat at the terrace and had late night conversations, catching up on the several years they had not seen each other.
I was about to get up, but Divya stopped me.
~ "Di, Rakshit, please wait a sec."
She smiled. Rakshit frowned.
~ "What now?"
Divya's smile widened.
~ "Actually, see, we are all together, and I was thinking if we could play a game -"
~ "Yeah, bhai, it would be amazing. We would be bonding after a long time."
~ "What game?"
Rakshit looked uncertain.
~ "Dare Or Dare."
So, this was it. A game of Dare or Dare. This is what they were exchanging glances about. But why?
~ "You guys play, I have a meeting tomorrow -"
~ "Rakshit please! See? Di will play -"
~ "Divi - I - no -"
~ "Please! Bhai, bhabi, play na! It will be fun."
Sikhar, Divya, Rashi - the three of them made pleading puppy faces. Sourav laughed.
~ "Okay, but just this one time."
Rakshit still looked very uncertain. All four of them turned to me now.
I, too, nodded my head reluctantly. How far could a small game of Dare or Dare go?
~
We settled down in the study, sitting upon an old, red blanket on the cold marble floor, in a tight circle. To my right was Rashi and to my left was Divya. Rakshit sat opposite me, so that we were facing each other. Sikhar sat beside Rashi and Sourav sat beside Divya. In the centre of the circle lay a small white plastic bottle, the one that we would be using for our Dare or Dare.
