RAKSHIT'S POV

I knocked on the bathroom door politely and Divya emerged out, her eyes wet. She apologized and thanked me repeatedly, all of which I dismissed with a wave of my right hand. I told her to feed Drishti a little bit of the soup if she could, but warning her not to force Drishti.

She said that Romi and Sikhar were at Akash's house, but for what Divya couldn't quite remember. I sensed trouble. Hopefully, these two young men would control their temper, hopefully.

I went outside and got chocolate ice cream for everyone. The rain had stopped now but it was cold outside and the roads were slippery.

When I returned, there was still no sign of Romi and Sikhar. I was a little worried about what my hot headed brother and Romi were upto. But priorities are priorities.

I stood near the door while Divya fed Drishti ice cream, her head resting on Divya's shoulder, eyes calm yet stormy. I tried calling Sikhar, multiple times, but he didn't pick up. I took Romi's number from Divya and tried calling him, but like Sikhar, he too didn't pick up.

Drishti finished the ice cream and took her medicines quietly and then, with Divya's help lay down in the bed, pulling the blanket upto her chin. But she didn't close her eyes, instead, she stared at the ceiling.

Divya got up and came near me, her back to Drishti.

Divya - Rakshit, thank you so much for all that you have done. I truly don't know how I should thank you... You must be tired... I think you should go back... And thank you again...

Me - If you don't mind, I would prefer to stay... I mean... If you are comfortable with it... Your brother is not here, you are alone... I just...

She looked on the verge of tears again.

Divya - Thank you Rakshit. I don't know how -

Me - Please don't thank me. Drishti and I met today and we talked for quite a while. I think that it is safe to say that we are friends.... And what use of such friends who don't help you in trouble?

I tried to smile.

What was wrong with me? Why was I so eager to be near and help a girl whom I barely knew?

She looked touched, but didn't thank me again. She just smiled and told me she would give a quick visit to the washroom.

Divya closed the door behind her as she went out.

Drishti was still staring at the ceiling, her eyes blank.

I went and sat on the edge of the bed.

~ "Do you think he will come?"

She was still staring at the ceiling, but I knew that the question was directed towards me.

I didn't have the heart to say 'no', so I kept quiet.

~ "No, he will not."

She closed her eyes.

I woke up with a slight jerk.
The dimly lit passage way of the hospital was dark and smelled strongly of disinfectants.

Beside me, Divya was fast asleep, her head hanging at the right side of her body.

There was still no sign of Romi and Sikhar.

But I thought that I had heard movement - somewhere, in Drishti's cabin.

I got up, but hesitated before opening the door.

There was definitely some movement around.

Was she sick? Did she need something?
