Grabbing a seat, Jiaqi avoided eye contact with the cold beauty and simply nodded in response. Xueer followed and sat down, the tension between them never wavering. It wasn't hatred yet it wasn't the good kind, it was more like a threatening and uncertain one. Whether it was their next action or words, the atmosphere was almost that uncomfortable to breathe in.
Feeling suffocated by the ear piercing silence, Jiaqi finally spoke up, "So, are you going to start or something?" The short haired girl raised a brow as she adjusted the glasses sliding down her nose bridge. Clearing her throat, Xueer scratched her nape and managed to let out a few hoarse words, "Right...So as you know, I'm Kong Xueer, the president of dance club and the student who always gets straight 'A's for all examinations."
Jiaqi furrowed her brows as she leaned back a little, "What? You call this introductions? Everyone in campus including me knows about this because of how popular you are." Xueer remained silent and soon snapped back, "Well it ain't my fault that I'm that popular...and I have nothing interesting in my life. It's just so boring especially with my strict ass parents."
The latter shifted her seat closer as she stared right into Xueer's beautiful hazel eyes, "What about your interests? Any hobbies or? I mean you can't be that basic." The idea of liking to read and learn about vampires did pop in Xueer's mind but she was not ready to share about it yet, specially when she's afraid of being judged.
However, Jiaqi wasn't going to let her keep that to herself. Though she chose not to read her mind, Jiaqi still remembered when Xueer was reading vampire books, and that lead her to asking a question. "What about vampire books? I saw you read them last time. Do you like them or hate them?"
Xueer was put right into her spot as her mind completely jammed. Flustered about the question, she tried avoiding it but ended up failing miserably. So the only choice was for her to lie.
"I hate vampires. Those blood sucking animals are nothing but a nuisance to society. It's better to have them extinct." Her sentences were laced with hatred and venom. Xueer was quite shocked with her acting, she almost convinced herself.
On the other hand, Jiaqi felt as if she had a thousand daggers thrown at her heart. All this time I actually thought she has nothing against us but of course she's just like the rest...Jiaqi lowered her vision as she felt her anger emerging slowly. Blood sucking animals...Nuisance to society, these phrases just kept circulating her mind.
"What about you? Don't you just hate vampires?" Xueer asked feeling truely curious about the short haired opinions on vampires. Jiaqi inhaled and exhaled softly with her fists clenched as she finally looked up and forced each and every word out, "Same. I-I hate them."
Xueer felt her heart sink a bit at her answer while faking a smile, "Now it's your turn." Before Jiaqi spoke, the red headed noticed her eyes turning into a shade of crimson. Xueer felt every single hair on her neck stand up as she racked her brain. What the hell did I just see? Was it just a light reflection? Trying to forget whatever she had hallucinated, Xueer scolded herself mentally.
"I'm Xu Jiaqi and my hobby is dancing. I also like to hunt." Xueer's curiosity peaked with the two words 'dancing' and 'hunt'. Unconsciously leaning in, she questioned, "Where can you even hunt?" Jiaqi calmly answered even though she was still disappointed and mad, "The woods. My father is a skilled hunter and so he taught me how to use guns and all sorts of things." Everything she said was a lie except the woods since she does hunt there, just not with weapons but her own set of fangs.
Xueer's mouth formed an 'O' as she nodded her head in acknowledgement, "I see...well do you think of joining the dance club then since you like dancing?" Shaking her head stiffly, Jiaqi replied with her eyes glued to the cold beauty's, "No. I like dancing but I can't dance. Besides, I'm thinking of joining basketball."
Xueer didn't know why but she felt disappointed at her answer, somehow as if she wanted her to join dance club, it's just that she can't admit it.
Another deafening silence approached them as both sat there occupied with different things. Xueer thinking of what to ask and Jiaqi trying to control her anger. She just hates when people disregards vampires as if they shouldn't have a life. And that had just happened. In fact, Jiaqi was shocked that she still has not lashed out on Xueer.
"Uh do you have any favourite music genre or something?" The red headed rested her head against her arms. Jiaqi nodded and simply replied with a few rigid words, "Yes. It's R&B." That was when Xueer noticed how bad of a mood Jiaqi was in since the vampire topic. From her clenched fists to lowering of head and shaking legs, Jiaqi was definitely not fine.
"Hey, are you alright? You seem really down..." Xueer awkwardly patted Jiaqi on the shoulder as her gaze softened. When her touch came into contact with her hoodie, Xueer realised how cold she was. There was absolutely no body heat at all. Normally when you wear hoodies you would feel quite warm but it was just plain cold.
"Yea...I'm fine. Wow, first time you cared about your partner." Meanwhile, Jiaqi's heavy emotions started fading as she glimpsed into Xueer's empathetic and innocent eyes. Not only that but also because of her caring and gentle words. Though it was only for a second, it was still a side of Xueer she had never seen.
The red headed rolled her eyes as she leaned forward, trying to seem intimidating again, "You should be honoured to even converse with me for that long." Jiaqi suppressed a smile and shook her head, there she goes again. "And you should be thankful that you're still alive." The latter monotonely stated, trying to ignore the hilarious expression on Xueer's face.
"And why is that so?" Raising a brow, Xueer challenged as she then narrowed her eyes. Jiaqi smirked and leaned even closer, that close that their knees brushed against each other while staring right at the cold beauty, "Because of what you said, I could've already devoured you, savoring every single part of you, but I didn't. So be thankful."
Xueer felt like she was in a trance as she stared deeply into Jiaqi's dark mysterious eyes that seemed like a black hole, sucking her in. "And what exactly did I say?" She wasn't going to let this go that easily. There was no way she was going to lose to a weirdo. Jiaqi however had something different to say.
The latter inched closer to a shivering Xueer, her lips right next to her ears as she whispered in a low tone, "Well...That's for you to think about, Ms Xueer."
