Forbidden Love [Jiaqi x Xueer]

When time resumed and switched back to reality, Jiaqi had felt the warmth of Xueer in her arms. The familiar warmth which she had loved and cherished. She had protected Xueer and that was all it mattered.

Her body acted like a shield, protecting Xueer from getting shot. She was rained on with endlessly ricocheting bullets. However, only 4 bullets sunk into her flesh as her telekinesis instincts had been activated, deflecting all the other bullets.

In that moment, Xueer started gaining conscious as her drowsy gaze casted on Jiaqi's distorted face. Pain and agony was written all over it. Just by the look at the carnivorous glowing eyes of the vampire, she had immediately recognised her as Jiaqi.

"J-Jiaqi?" Those same intimidating red eyes had tears falling from them as Jiaqi still managed to smile through her mask, "You're safe Xueer..."

Suddenly, the latter had processed whatever was happening in her head. Gun shots, extremely loud roaring of familiar voices which most likely belonged to Yuyan, Keyin and Keran, the sound of lifeless body thudding against the ground, and the scent of metallic blood.

She shook her head as if can't accept what was happening.

"N-no...Jiaqi. Stay with me. Please, stay with me. You have to." As crystal beads of tears blasted out of her bloodshot eyes, Xueer reached out to Jiaqi's face. She knew she couldn't remove her mask because if Jiaqi survived but the whole world sees her face, she would be forever running, hiding or fighting.

The four bullets were plunged right into her back and shoulders and luckily not in her vital organs. Knowing that she was going to survive, Jiaqi was already relieved. She could still see Xueer one last time.

Cradling Xueer in her arms, Jiaqi pulled down her mask. A faint and weak smile showed as she leaned in and placed a long, affectionate peck on Xueer's forehead. The redheaded was frozen. Jiaqi had removed her mask. With just a pull of her mask, Jiaqi's identity was out there for the entire world. However, she didn't care.

The reporters had a perfect view of what was the angle which they were filming from. Yet, she didn't give a damn.

Even Yuxin was shocked. Why would Jiaqi do that and have her whole life living in the dark just for love? That was what was running through everyone's mind then except Yuyan, Keyin and Keran's. They were stunned at first, but they knew exactly what Jiaqi needed then--comfort. And there was no way they were going to stop her.

Yuyan bit down on her lip as her hands reached out to her mask too. Jiaqi wasn't going to do it alone. Removing her mask as Keyin and Keran followed, everyone didn't know what to feel. Whether to feel superior now or inferior.

Those who were watching the live broadcast had their jaws dropped. Xiaotang, Shuxin and even Keni, these three felt fear at first, which soon turned into anger. Angry that they couldn't help even when their friends were badly injured.

Caressing Xueer's dirt and tear stained cheeks, Jiaqi softly whispered, "I love you..." She could feel her head starting to spin like a whirlpool. Her rapid heart pace slowly calmed down with her eyelids slowly closing. Her body felt heavy and lifeless. As each second passes, consciousness was slipping away. That was when Yuxin took that heartwarming opportunity and charged towards Jiaqi with the syringe in her hands.

"Jiaqi look out!" The other three vampires bellowed exasperatedly, trying to escape the soldiers who were surrounding them. They weren't going to make it on time.

Right as the syringe was about to pierce through Jiaqi's back, Xueer snapped out of her weak state and hurriedly switched positions with Jiaqi.

Eyes widened and jaws clenched, Yuxin glared right into the fiery pits of Xueer's demonic like eyes. The tip of the syringe had stopped at a millimetre away from her forehead. The redheaded had her right hand wrapped around the syringe and with a great amount of force, she had stopped Yuxin completely in the right time. If she was any later, she would have been done for.

"You...fucking...rat." Through gritted teeth, Xueer hissed venomously at Yuxin who was fully taken aback. The blonde hadn't expect the campus beauty to be that strong. Through the shocked state of Yuxin, Xueer seized that chance and reversed the attack.

Snatching the syringe from her hand harshly, she swiftly spun the syringe around and stabbed it right into Yuxin's neck, injecting all the blue liquid inti her body.

Groaning in pain, Yuxin hissed at the redhead, "I-I'll have my revenge one day.." Right after that, her body fell to the floor like a ragdoll. She had finally collapsed.

As she was like the leader of the pack, the other soldiers retreated immediately in fits of fear and panic while the paramedics came rushing into the arena and scurried to lift the unconscious blonde into the ambulance.

On the other hand, all the vampires collasped onto the ground while smiling through pain. They did it. At least for this time.

"Thank you Xueer, for saving Jiaqi when we couldn't." Yuyan patted her back before glancing at the four bullets still deeply stuck in Jiaqi's back. Her ears and face were red from the agitation trapped in her heart. She was supposed to protect Jiaqi but failed to.

Remaining silent, Xueer only nodded her head and shifted her attention back to Jiaqi.

"Will she be alright?"

Nodding in response, Keran assured Xueer while Keyin and Yuyan carefully supported the unconscious vampire.

"Keke, let's head back to base now. We can't wait any longer."

Xueer knew that they would not allow her to follow as she's still a human after all. She could not visit her or even stay with her...she would have to wait until good news comes from the other three in vain.

The worst thing was, she wasn't even sure if Jiaqi would come back.

And if she could ever see Jiaqi again.
