The first day after what had happened, Xueer had decided to stay home the whole time. She ignored the screams of her parents outside her room, yelling at her to go to school. All she did was cry in silence while her blanket wrapped around her frail and weak body. She hasn't eaten breakfast, lunch or dinner. She would call Yuyan, Keran and Keyin too but of course none of them picked up. Their phones were probably not even with them.
Soon, a week has passed. She went back to school, with murmurs and whispers ringing in her ears everywhere she goes. Some pitied Xueer for falling in love with a vampire while some felt incredibly sad for her. Her head was hung low the entire day, she was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants which was very unlike her normal outfits, her hair was tied up messily and she had ignored both Xiaotang and Shuxin.
"Xueer...you can't stay like that forever. If Jiaqi is not coming back, you'll have to move on." Sighing, Xiaotang worriedly faced the redhead. Both Shuxin and Xiaotang had broke into her home when her parents were out for work. They couldn't stand Xueer's avoidance anymore. Worry was also constantly occupying their minds.
Shuxin reassuringly patted her shoulders before continuing, "I don't know whether you already knew Jiaqi was a vampire or not but if you still love her, you'll wait for her."
Heaving a sigh, Xiaotang nodded her head, "But a longer waiting time means more pain and torture for you. Also stop avoiding us. We're your friends or even sisters, we're supposed to be there when you feel the most down."
The redheaded couldn't help but to break out of her cocoon as tears started welling up in her eyes. Noticing her little sniffs, her two friends engulfed her in a hug and whispered words of comfort. That was when Xueer looked up and gazed into their eyes. It had been a week since she had any interactions with anyone.
When her eyes locked with the others, they seemed vacuous, like a dark deep pit of sorrow. Her eyes were puffy from all the crying too. It pained Shuxin and Xiaotang. They hated to see Xueer like that but they can't blame it on Jiaqi for Xueer's state, as it was Xueer who fell in love with Jiaqi. However, they can't blame Xueer too, as it was Jiaqi who came into her life.
To them, it seemed as if Xueer and Jiaqi was a pair of star crossed lovers. The love between them seemed forbidden in the book of history. Embracing the sobbing redheaded, both the girls knew that Xueer would continue crying till she falls asleep due to exhaustion. Hence, they stayed with her till night.
The play that they were supposed to act out was long forgotten since that day. In fact, the school had completely disregarded the plays students were supposed to do, they didn't want to make it unfair for other students.
Minutes passed, hours passed, days passed and weeks had passed. To be exact, 3 weeks had passed. Still no sign of the four returning. Over the internet, there had been many discussions about the whole fight that took place weeks ago. More than 3 quarter of citizens were on the vampires' side. It was only a handful which was on the government's side.
Many commented on the heartwarming and touching moment between Jiaqi and Xueer. The emotions of raw love and sorrow could be felt even through the live broadcast. Soon, many held protests for the rights of vampires to live freely in this world shared between humans and vampires. Humans have also started to change their perspectives of vampires.
On the same rooftop where Xueer and Jiaqi had gotten to know each other better months ago, Xueer silently gazed upon the orange pink sky. Snowflakes slowly fluttered down with the slight shine of the setting sun highlighting them.
"Winter has came...yet you're not back."
The redhead laughed bitterly while wrapping her arms around legs. She had promised Xiaotang and Shuxin that she would move on...however even after months, she still waited. She still loved Jiaqi with her entire existence and heart.
"Everyday I still wonder if you miss me...or even remember me." Looking up into the vast endless sky, Xueer felt a tear slide down her cold cheeks.
"Even if you don't, I do. I still remember you and am still waiting for you." She then bit down on her lip as her breathing became more erratic. Vivid bitter sweet memories of her and Jiaqi came rushing back.
When they had first met. When they had became friends. When they had their first intimate moment. When they had their first kiss together. When she had found out Jiaqi was a vampire. When they had made love to each other. And lastly, when they had last improper goodbyes.
"I miss you so much...Xu Jiaqi. So fucking much." Muttering those words through her pain and vain, she buried her face into the palms of her hands.
Minutes passed by as she finally glanced at her watch. Putting on a weak smile, she wiped her tears dry and recollected herself. "Stay strong Xueer. Once you leave this place, don't show Shuxin and Xiaotang that you've been crying."
Slowly getting up, Xueer took a final look of the scenery in front of her and slowly turned around. Her gaze was still casted to the ground.
In that moment when she had looked up, she locked eyes with someone.
Blonde hair, fox like eyes, kissable lips and fair porcelain skin.
