Forbidden Love [Jiaqi x Xueer]

"Jiaqi...what are we exactly?"

The tension was so thick that even a knife wouldn't cut it. It was suffocating, eating up the conscience of Jiaqi and Xueer. Even the campus beauty suddenly felt regret asking that question as silence dragged on with the sound of water droplets hitting the shower floor.

Jiaqi clenched her jaws as her thoughts collided with one another, fighting to win the dilemma going on in her head. Reaching out to the faucet to switch off the still running water, Jiaqi till managed to secure Xueer in her arms, not wanting to let go of her fragile frame.

Stepping out of the shower, she then gently held Xueer up onto sink and trapped her within her arms.

Selecting her words with caution lacing her trembling voice, Jiaqi managed to let out a breath, "Kisses after kisses...hugs after hugs. What do you think we are? Just friends? Or project partners?"

Xueer remained silent.

She couldn't find herself answering that. Her throat was hoarse, her lips were numb and her gaze was faltering. Were they still friends, project partners?

"The question isn't what we are Xueer, the question is..." The latter paused before continuing.

"What am I to you?"

The redheaded held her breath as she gazed into the luminous dark eyes of Jiaqi. Her wet hair framed her face perfectly as water droplets slid down her jaw. Not being able to hold eye contact anymore, Xueer shifted her gaze to the floor timidly. Her voice wavered with hesitation as she said the next words. Xueer just couldn't admit it.

"A-a good friend."

Not knowing the latter's next reactions, Xueer was ready to explain herself when Jiaqi flashed a smile.

"See, it wasn't that hard to answer was it? At least now I know how you feel." The vampire stepped back and passed a towel and a plaster to the stunned redheaded. "Dry up and put the plaster over the bite. Your parents must be seriously angry since you haven't been home since yesterday."

Though the taller was supporting a grin, it didn't reach her eyes. It felt emotionless instead. The smile was just there to console Xueer, like a mask Jiaqi had put on.

Turning around the moment Xueer grabbed the towel from her hands, Jiaqi headed to the living room as her smile slowly faded with each step she took.

"Well, guess I'll see you tomorrow for our final practice before next next week's official play. Also if your parents do anything to you, let me know. I'll punch them for you." Sending the campus beauty to the door, Jiaqi smiled once more and playfully ruffled her hair.

Xueer nodded her head before hugging Jiaqi again, "Thank you...for everything." In which the vampire stood there not responding, she couldn't after hearing Xueer's words.

"No problem...I'll always be here for you."

Just like that the door shut and the sound of footsteps fading rung in her ears. That was when she let out a ghostly smile, "A good friend huh...maybe that's what I'll always be to you."

She sat by the door with Xueer's words repeating in her mind. The room was completely down and dark, so as her heart. After a few hours, the door opened with Yuyan getting worried in an instant at the sight of Jiaqi who quietly sat by the window.

"Jiaqi...are you alright?"

The older couldn't hear her. She could only hear the words Xueer had said. Locking the door, Yuyan then immediately went by her side and whispered sadly, "Let everything out. Don't hide it. You know us vampires are not all that strong too..."

Just with those words, Jiaqi finally broke out of her shell, bursting into tears as she sought refuge in Yuyan's arms. The younger sighed and gently stroke her back as Jiaqi poured all her pent up emotions to her. The two sat there with Yuyan hearing Jiaqi curse at how stupid she was for falling for Xueer and all sorts of things.

At the end of the day, Jiaqi fell asleep in the arms of Yuyan's. Her friend felt a deep sense of hatred towards Xueer. She just couldn't understand why she had said that. To Yuyan, Xueer looked just as in love as Jiaqi.

The next day came and Xueer was worried sick, about Jiaqi and also their project. Jiaqi and Yuyan didn't turn up in school.

"You still haven't answered why your neck has a plaster on it. How did you even hurt youself on the neck?" Shuxin laughed at her friend who just calmly answered, "I accidentally burnt my neck while using the hair straightener." Luckily they believed her.

"Oh yea, did you hear the news? There was a mass kill today. The entire forest was cleared out, no more wildlife in that forest. Th vampires sucked every drop of blood from the animals. The government said that it was a sign of rebellion."

Xueer sighed as Shuxin went on about the morning news to Xiaotang who remained silent. Still not sure if she should tell Shuxin about Jiaqi and Xueer.

Just as Xiaotang decided to let Shuxin in about the little thing Xueer and Jiaqi had, a voice interrupted her thoughts. "Uh Xueer...could I speak to you for awhile?"

It was Yuxin.

Taken by surprise, Xueer still kept her composure and answered politely as kindness and guilt from breaking up with the blonde ate her up, "Fine."

The two headed to an empty corridor before Yuxin started apologising and asking her for another chance. Promising her that she wouldn't bother Jiaqi anymore if she gave her one more chance to be her lover.

Xueer didn't know what to say. With a blank mind, she agreed. That was when Yuxin pulled her into a hug and kissed her gently.

The redheaded didn't react. Instead, she stood there with her mind wandering somewhere else. Was this the right choice?

Before she knew it, news had spread around with a picture of them kissing circulating the campus drama blog.

When Xiaotang found out, she felt anger seeping through her veins. She didn't take Xueer as a two timer. Luckily for Xueer, she had not told Shuxin who would've probably gave Xueer an earful on cheating. However, the thought of Xueer and Jiaqi being friends with benefits did cross her mind, she just couldn't pinpoint it.

"That piece of sh-" Yuyan got cut off with Jiaqi smiling sadly shaking her head, "Let's not be like this Yan. We should be happy for her. Afterall, we're friends aren't we?" Back at home, the two had also saw the news of Xueer and Yuxin getting back together. She emptily gazed at the picture of them kissing, her heart breaking and shattering.

Noticing it, Yuyan snatched her phone away and threw it on the bed before huffing, "Forget about that. Anyways the two stupid heads should be here soon if I'm not wro-"

Just then, the door swung open with two girls invading their home. "It's been a long time bitches, don't y'all miss me?!"

The tiger rushed to Jiaqi and Yuyan with the other girl shutting the door sighing desperately, "Sorry about this embarrassment here. Anyways how are y'all?" She then flashed a teasing smile with the reckless girl whining at her words, "Hey! I'm not an embarrassment you nut job."

Before the other girl could respond, Yuyan yelled with her loud ass voice, "XIE KEYIN, LU KERAN. SHUT THE HELL UP."
