As the golden sun rose above the horizon, the redheaded felt a piercing pain in her neck as she slowly gained conscious. Her throat felt hoarse and her body felt heavier than usual. The sunlight blinded her eyes as she tried seating up on the silky bed- Wait, silky? Her bed was fluffy not silky. That was when something hit her, last night she was having dinner with Jiaqi until the girl started feeling unwell. She then treated her but got bitten.

Suddenly all senses of alarm struck her like a truck. Jiaqi was a vampire and she was bitten. Xueer bit her chapped lip as she looked around frantically trying to look for a way to escape. Through the window. Jump through there and run to the nearest police station to have Jiaqi locked up. That was her plan.

However, she couldn't bring herself to do it. Hesitations clouded her mind as her eyes darted to the door of Jiaqi's bedroom and the window. Burrying her head into her hands, Xueer grunted silently as she had a tug of war going on in her mind.

"Good morning, Xueer."

In a montonous voice, Jiaqi opened the door holding a glass of water and clothes. The frightened redheaded immediately hid under the bed covers as she prayed. The thought of Jiaqi killing right then her warped around her.

"Xueer, I'm not gonna kill you. Look I have a lot to say." Sighing, Jiaqi placed the glass of water on her desk and sat on the edge of her bed. "I'll leave the clothes and water here for you. If you want, you can wash up first. I'll be in the living room waiting." The sound of the creaking door echoed through the empty room before a click.

Calming herself down, Xueer slowly got up and stared at the clothes blankly. What was she gonna do? Jiaqi trusted her not to run away. Should she break that trust, or keep that trust? In the end, the campus beauty gave in and headed straight for the bathroom before going to the living room once she felt ready.

The two sat down in silence, Jiaqi staring right at Xueer and Xueer looking everywhere but Jiaqi.

"I know this is shocking but I'm a vampire. And I bit you last night." Not knowing how to start off, Jiaqi awkwardly stated the obvious which left Xueer nodding her head robotically.

"And uh...no you will not turn into a vampire. Because I'm not a savage vampire." Somehow, Xueer felt a sense of relief wash through her when Jiaqi clarified.

"But uh...most importantly. You can't tell anyone that I'm a vampire. If you do, you'll get not only me but my entire clan in trouble." In a serious and stern tone, Jiaqi's firm gaze bored into her weak ones.

After a short pause, Xueer finally managed to let out a few words, "What if I do?" She no longer felt much tension in her. Xueer gazed at the girl. She's a vampire. But why, why aren't I running away?

Another pause went by before Jiaqi looked away from her with a creased forehead. She couldn't find herself telling Xueer about it but the smart girl figured out. "I'll get killed won't I?"

Nodding her head, Jiaqi weakly sighed. However what Xueer said next gave Jiaqi a light of hope. "You know...all the time I was lying about my feelings about vampires because i thought you were like the others who hated them."

Pausing to look at Jiaqi's reaction, she then continued. "Instead of feeling disgust for them, I feel curiosity and interest."

"But never had I once thought I'll get bitten by one. I felt fear, shock and anxiety." The once horrified and anxiety stricken Xueer was gone. The redheaded then leaned forward and faintly smiled, "However I realised you're still Jiaqi. No matter what, you're still the amazing girl I know."

That sent Jiaqi frozen on the spot. She couldn't believe her ears. "And therefore, I didn't climb out the windows to escape and I won't be planning to tell anyone. You have my word." Raising her hand, she stuck out her pinky and smiled, "Pinky promise."

Jiaqi stared at her hand in silence before carefully hooking pinkies with Xueer. "Thank you so much Xueer...you have no idea how much this means to me."

Right then the redheaded stood up and engulfed Jiaqi in a tight hug, leaving the latter speechless and shocked. Only after a while, Jiaqi decided to hug Xueer back with a subtle smile appearing on her no longer distressed face.

"Just promise me that you'll stay away from the government...and also, enlighten me about the vampire community. Because I'm curious." Whispering in Jiaqi's ears, Xueer then pulled away from the hug and flashed a toothy grin when she said the last sentence.

Nodding her head, Jiaqi patted Xueer's head and smiled cutely, "I promise you." Guilt filled her heart as she lied through her teeth. She could promise the second, but definitely not the first.
