Jesse stumbled into his room completely drunk, followed swiftly by Hardcase and (y/n) stumbling in after him. The typical setting of (y/n)'s "flawless" friends spiking her drink, Jesse and Hardcase trying to beat each other's drunk level and Echo having to guide them back. Along with fives these were the usual bar contenders. Rex Kix and Tup sometimes went but usually had different things to do. The ending routine would always be Kix fixing up injuries and Rex collecting his girlfriend before Hardcase got too flirty. However this time it was different.
Rex wasn't there.

Echo put a tipsy fives quickly to bed while panicking what to do with the others. Hardcase had cornered a giggly (y/n) into the corner with a dopey grin on his face.
"Your Hawt!" he slowly slurred, gently kicking her ankle.
She just giggled at the fuzzy shape in front of her. She was looking at Rex right? Right?!
"Ya kknnnnnow that right? Your such a cutIE!" he fell forwards onto her chest making him die of laughter.

"Hardcase get off Her!" Echo tried to break the two apart.
"gerroff me!" Hardcase pushed him away.
Echo fell into Jesse who immediately initiated cuddle.exe.
"Jesse!" too late.
Echo could only lay and stare as Hardcase climbed into his bed and fell asleep with (y/n).
He was as good as dead.
Where the hell was Rex?!

Next morning Hardcase was too tired and hung over to let go of (y/n).
(y/n) overslept and echo had to get Fives to crowbar him out of Jesse's grasp.
(y/n) woke up with her head in breakfast.
"huh?"
"ALL HAIL QUEEN HANGOVER!" Jesse, Hardcase and Fives bowed in front of her.
She gave then the middle finger and went back to sleep in the rations. While the others giggled, a tired Captain walked into the mess hall.
Late.
He walked past the others and sat next to Echo.
Echo however was crapping himself.

"Hey." he yawned, something had clearly been keeping him up all night.
"hey?" The terrorized arc replied looking over to him, "ya haven't been overworking yourself again have you?"
"how was the 79's?"
"umm good. The others got quite drunk and I had to guide them home. Where were you last night?"
"that sounds fun."
Echo was thoroughly confused by this.
"Hardcase got abit flirty with (y/n) though."
"what did he do?"
"he kinda slept with her- BUT AS A FRIEND!"
"oh that's nice"
"What?"
"bye."
"Rex you haven't even eaten anything-"
Echo stared as Rex walked quietly away, his head being up with the fairies rather than on the ground.

"WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?!" (y/n) was now very awake and had Hardcase pushed up a wall.
"Well urm I was drunk and-"
"I LOOK LIKE I'VE BEEN ATTACKED BY AN OCTOPUS!" she kneed him hard, "STOP SPIKING MY DRINK I'M NOT INTERESTED IN BEING DRUNK!"
"but you didn't mind-"
"BECAUSE I THOUGHT YOU WERE REX! IF YOU DONT MIND I DONT WANT TO BE SNOGGING ONE OF MY FRIENDS NOW NEVER FLIRT WITH ME AGAIN!"
"okay!" he squeaked not being able to breathe.
(y/n) let go of him and he toppled over onto Jesse.
"I hate to tell ya Hardcase but she has something called standards."
"All I want is someone who loves me )': 🥺"
While the poor trooper had a quiet hungover melt down, the young jedi went off to find Rex. She was getting paranoid now; was he angry at her for last night?

She looked for a few more hours with no luck. She kept searching until she heard a faint sound of (song) being played. It was one of her favourite songs so it didn't take her long to figure out the tune. It sounded like it was being played on a violin. With nothing better to do she started following the sound, curious as to who was playing it. Suddenly she heard a couple of bad notes and:
"Kriff."
It was definitely a clone playing it. She giggled and found her way into a storage room. She hid behind some boxes and to her surprise saw Rex sat cross-legged on the floor tuning the violin muttering to himself. She kept herself hidden and waited for him to play Again. And eventually he did.

The sound was beautiful. All the notes hit at the perfect timing. (y/n) listened both amazed and stunned, she didn't even know he could play violin. At the end of the song, he lowered his instrument and tilted his head a little.
"did ya like it?"
(y/n) fell off the crate she was standing on and slid onto the floor next to him, "when did ya know I was there?" she grinned.
"I heard the door go. That's why I sat down to retune it. And I figured it was you because Hardcase told me you left to find me."
She went pale, "are you angry?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because I intended it to happen." he stood her back up and pushed her gently to the back of the storage room where there was a blanket on the floor with a cake, balloons and presents.
She freezed on the spot stunned.

The area was strategically lit with a hand painted banner that read "happy birthday."
"But... Rex." she didn't know what to say, "it isn't my birthday."
"I know," he turned to her, "You never said what it was. I know you don't like the day for some odd reason so I decided to give you a new one. Hardcase was in on it and acted more flirty. So happy birthday." he hugged her tight.
(y/n) hugged back but was still in shock. He sat her down, let her blow out the candles and open her presents. Then they sat there for a while eating cake.
"thank you." she smiled.
"anytime." he blushed a little, "did ya like the song?"
"I loved it. And you can definitely play the violin better than you can cut cake."
