The blonde Sakamaki laid on the grass, as he stared up at the nightly sky. The stars shone dull the past couple of days, though the sky was clear of clouds.

He twirled a single red rose in his fingers above his face, as a small red petal fell on top of his nose and slid down his cheek.

The scent was nostalgic.

It was in these peaceful moments that he remembered her calming hands ruffling through his hair as he forcefully laid in her lap.

He hadn't picked up his violin in a long while, as he didn't feel like playing. There was no way he could play in peace with everything going on. The house was an absolute mess.

He exhaled through his nose, before pulling himself up into a sitting position and making his way back to the main house.

He was walking towards the staircase, which meant he had to pass through the common living room.

As he did so, he spotted a familiar figure - his younger brother, who clutched onto his teddy bear, sitting in front of the fireplace.

"Say, Teddy, how long has it been now?" His voice lacked of energy. "Why isn't she back yet?"

It has been like this for a couple of days now, refusing to move or attend meals. They had to forcefully bring Yui to him in order to get him to drink some of her blood.

Shu clenched his jaw.

He walked into the common place where everything was silent. At the staircase, he found Ayato leaning against the railing, looking at his feet.

Same could be said for him as it was said for Kanato.

They look like abandoned puppies. It's pathetic.

"Shu."

Shu didn't reply.

"You are the oldest." Ayato said, as he hid his face in his hand. "Can't you go find her?"

He glanced at his brother's state before closing his eyes in exasperation.

"I have no need to do that." He replied, walking past him. "You and Laito are good enough for the job."

He said that, but he knew that the two brothers were exhausted. They have been on the search for days, but only showed up at the house human-less.

"That's cold." He heard the familiar voice of his white-haired brother speak. "You know that if you were to go, you would be able to find her in no time."

Ayato looked up at his brothers with slight confusion.

"And what is that suppose to mean?" Shu questioned, but was surprised to see Subaru's angered face.

"What the hell does that mean, you ask?" His fist clenched. "It means that you know her better than all of us. You spent more time with her than any of us. We want to find her and yet, the guy that was the closest to her is acting like a jackass refusing to do what he himself wants to do."

Shu was about to say something but closed his mouth.

"You want to go and get her so why the fuck won't you?!" Subaru yelled.

"I advise you stop with that tone of yours." Subaru's eyes widened as he watched his brother glare threateningly at him.

"Tch." He clicked his tongue before walking down the staircase and into the living room, most likely to try to get Kanato to go outside for fresh air.

Shu walked to his room slowly.

Subaru was right. He did want to get the girl. He wanted to find their hideout this very moment and destroy every single one of those half-bloods for even thinking of putting their hands on her.
