Chapter 18

A few days later I checked my emails. I'd managed to get a placement at the nearest hospital which was only forty minutes away. They had offered me Wednesday and Thursday twelve hour shifts and to start in a couple of weeks. I jumped up and down!! I can't believe it!! I couldn't wait! Everything's finally falling into place. This is the beginning for me a bigger insight into what I want to do. I smiled to myself, and rang my mum to tell her.

I went into the living room to tell Lisa the news. She gave me a hug.. "That's so good Lacey your gonna be amaze!"
"Thank you lovely!!!"
"Jason, Mateo and the other guys are coming back soon. They went to go get some grub. You gonna join us."
"Umm.. I dun.."
Just then Danny walked through the door first.
"Lacey you stranger come here." He pulled me into his arms.
Mateo glanced at me and set some stuff down on the kitchen side. Danny pulled me across to the food.
"Your joining us right?" He sounded hopeful.
"Well I was..."
"Come on stink, pass me them crisps." Mateo said winking at me.
He was acting his casual self, still calling me stuff but I guess it's just his playful way, well with me anyway. I chucked the crisps to him and he gave me a breathtaking smile.  He is beautiful, this annoyed me that I still wanted him. Then the reminder of why I shouldn't or won't have him walked through the door.

Lucy and the redhead I'd seen before walked in hanging their jackets up.
"I'll go out and get something, there's not gonna be enough for everyone." I said to Danny.
"You can share with me." Holding out his crisp packet for me to take one.
The red head wrapped her arm around Danny, my eyes averted looking around for Lucy then noticed she had her hand in Mateo's back pocket cupping his ass. Whilst talking to him.
My blood was boiling again.
"No. I'm going Danny but thanks anyway." I said politely.
I saw a little look of concern from Lisa, so I smiled reassuringly.
"Well you gonna let me take you out yet? Pleasee." Giving me puppy dog eyes.

You know what I have nothing to lose. Mateo is complicated we seem on civil terms but nothing more, so I will go out with Danny he is lovely and easy going with everyone. He does make me laugh too.
I giggled "Hmm on one condition."
His eyes lit up...
  "Yeah anything Lacey." He nodded frantically.
"I get to pick where we eat."
"Sure. Yeah!"
"Ok well get my number from Lisa. Then we can organise something. I'm gonna go grab a McDonald's. Talk laters."
He nodded heading straight over to Lisa.
Mateo's eyes were on me with a slight frown on his face. I stuck my tongue out at him. He did look surprised and shocked a little that I'd done that. Then pretended to look hurt putting his hands over his heart, so I rolled my eyes and he burst out laughing.
"Bye strange one." He smirked giving me a middle finger.
I returned his finger gesture which made him laugh even harder, looking utterly gorgeous with his glorious white teeth on show. I tore my eyes away and headed out the door.

I got to McDonald's and it was so busy I joined the long queue.
A text message flashed up..
Unknown: A dirty McDonald's over our grub stink. I'm offended :O

Huh! Surely this is Mateo and until now I hadn't realised I've never had his number.
Lacey: You offended that's a first! McDonald's was calling to me.

Two minutes later I felt someone pull on my pony tail, I turned to find Mateo grinning at me.
"McDonald's called to me too, when I'd got offended. What you getting me?"
He licked his deadly sinful lips staring down at me.
I was in complete shock he was here with me? When he should be with his mates. After I gathered my thoughts I answered him.
"What am I getting you?? You mean your getting me a Big Mac meal!" I gave him my sweetest smile.
"I can give you a Big Smack yeah." Putting his strong arms around my neck pretending to punch me in the side of my rib.
I love when he touches me, it feels natural but with a buzz running through me. His nice playful side has grown to be one of my favourite things about him. You just never know what mood your going to get with him though it's like spin the wheel.
I tried tickling him to let me go.
"Aren't you ticklish." I giggled still trying to break free.
"Uhh no. Here be quiet and have a knuckle sandwich then you can watch me have a maccies."
I was laughing so hard, "Stop! Stop! I need a wee."
Now he was laughing too but he let me go.
"Go on then go for a wee, before you smell even worse." He winked.

The butterflies in my stomach were fluttering like mad. I went to the toilet but when I came out I spotted him sat down at a table. He'd got me a Big Mac. I sat down smiling at him. Then wondered how did he get the food so quickly when I left him in the queue it was still really long. I hadn't been that long.
"How did you get the food so quickly?"
He winked, "Magic!"
"Why did you come here Mateo? Shouldn't you be with Lucy or the redhead?"
He tilted his head to the side.
"To give someone a Big Smack. As for them I can do what I like. I don't have a keeper." He leaned on the table crossing his arms showing his biceps off.
I chuckled at his big smack comment. He has such a way with words.
"We all know you do as you like but maybe you should get yourself a keeper, you might stay out of trouble then." I quirked an eyebrow at him.
His lips tightened fighting his smile then it broke free.
"Not all I like. This devil likes trouble, no keeper could tame me." He gave me a wicked smile.
"Is that so." I popped the last couple of fries in my mouth.
He bit down on his big lip my eyes homed in. Then when I finally tore my eyes away to look into his dangerous blue eyes he answered me.
"No one has yet."
His eyes felt like they were searching into mine for something.
I grinned... "You said yet, your hopeful."
He chuckled shaking his head dismissing it.
