My shift at the hospital was a tough one today. A lady had a still birth, my heart ached for the parents. Jane was so good with them under such awful circumstances she handled it sensitively and in a dignified way. We spoke to the parents in an empathetic manner, listening carefully to their wishes. The parents chose to spend time with their beautiful baby they named Joseph.
When I got to the staff room, tears rolled. My heart broke for them. Jane reassured me that I handled it respectfully, and that's it's natural to feel how I am. It's so incredibly sad.My shift was over and I was ready for a drink. I needed to prepare for whatever Mateo was going to say to me and after today I'm a mess so, yes wine is needed.
So when I got back I walked in had a shower, got changed and knocked on Mateo's door. I had my wine glass and laptop in hand.
His eyebrows lifted.. "Tough day?"
"Yeah I just want this over and done with." I walked past him and over to his bed.He nodded and logged on for me as I sat back against his headboard drinking my wine. After a few clicks and taps of the keyboard he smiled.
"It appears you've passed this week. So what would you like to do apart from drink wine stink?""Ermm...." I glanced around hoping for inspiration.
Then my eyes fell on his sketch pad.
"Could you show me your sketch pad?" I asked. He looked nervous for some reason.
"That's what you want to do?" He asked looking confused.
"Yeah I'm intrigued." I simply said."Ok this one though not my other." He held onto it. I eyed him suspiciously.
"Why not the other? Does it have that naked woman in?" I giggled."No. It's just more private and personal stuff."
"Oh ok... well lemme see that one then."
He passed me it.
I opened each page carefully I nearly gasped at every page.
"Teo this is amazing!! Wow I'm truly speechless. I like how you've done these ones they are natural, like they aren't even aware you've drawn them.""They aren't aware." He took the book from me showing one of Jason and then of Lisa and Georgie.
Then I wondered if he'd ever drawn me.
"Have you ever drawn me?" I asked curiously.
His wary eyes darted to mine.
"Show me please." I smiled.
He bit his lip and nodded finding the page then passed me it.
"Wow, well obviously me at my best." I giggled.
"Was that when I fell asleep on your jacket?"
"Yeah dribbler." He smirked.I turned the page and gasped.
"Holy shit Mateo, the detail in this." I covered my mouth.
It was of me sat on the kitchen work top with a glass of wine in my hand.
"Not much has changed nodding towards my glass."
I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Maybe I should let you draw me while I know so then I don't look like a sloth or drinker."
"Maybe you should but I doubt you'd sit still long enough." He chuckled.
I turned the page "How did you do this one?"
It was me in a dress with the girls, my finger followed lightly over his drawing.
"I took a picture when you were all gassing like old women at the club." He rolled his eyes.He took his sketch pad back.
"Orrr please I was enjoying looking."
He squinted "Really?"
"Yes really, it's fascinating how detailed and precise you are."
Smiling he looked away.
"Thank you for showing me."
I started to shuffle off the bed, my skirt started sliding up revealing my lilac lacy thongs. He let out a low whistle staring at them.
"Shit Lacey." He growled under his breath.
"Shit Mateo." Mimicking him.
I eyed him making him fully aware I was checking him out. I'm not really sure where my confidence came from, maybe the wine?
"Lacey you need to stop looking at me like that." He sighed.
"Like what??"Acting innocent.
"Like your undressing me and wanting me to take you right now. I aren't the one to take your virginity."
His words stung me.
"Ok."
I got up and walked out his bedroom.
