The Empty World

I wait for the sunrise

before i open up my eyes

the dark is close

the end is nigh

tonights not when i want to die

the silence held back by footsteps alone

rhythmically tapping the weed-bitten road

nothing to the left

nothing to the right

only one direction, forward, to go

this world is invisible

according to most, its mythical

but i know it exists

and im here within

though its barely livable

the lakes are filled with poison

and the food supply is frozen

its the world in my mind

so desolate and dead

and im the only one here with reason

noone else lives here

though their voices are near

i follow them and reach

the end of the world

as they laugh at my fears

i would jump if i were not connected to the ground

i would not consider if i didnt hear a sound

but its calling from the distance

and just a stones throw away

i wait for the day as i wait on the ground
