Lucas

Yesterday was the best day of my life, sort of.

It was my first day of junior year. The year all about me.

And Nikki Young.

I can't believe she's back to haunt me. I was sure she would be gone forever but no, she has to come back to ruin my life. I don't care if I sound like the typical teenage girl in a movie! I don't deserve this.

I climb out my car, tingling in excitement. As usual, Carter and Julian as waiting for me at the benches, away from the other jocks. With a smirk, I make my way towards them.

"Lucas."

Thank you random high schooler for recognizing me.

"He's Lucas? I didn't know he was cute."

I sure am. Though, I prefer the term "handsome" or "dashing".

"I wish he was my boyfriend."

Nice try, sweetheart. I make sure to wink at her. A blush makes it way to her cheeks.

"Does he have a girlfriend?"

Soon. The image of Victoria's pretty blonde hair and blue eyes make me smile.

"What you smiling about?" Carter teases. He nudges Julian, who just rolls his eyes and goes back to scanning his textbook.

"Nothing." I clear my throat and sit on top of the table with my feet on the bench. Carter joins me. "Aren't you gonna join us, Kid? We're looking for a fresh meat to beat up."

As cliché as it sounds, it's customary for jocks to make nerds and geeks feel inferior. Though not my favorite yearly activity, it's an activity I have to do to become the most popular person in high school.

"It's Kidd." Julian drags the "d". "And no. I forgot to study for my Environmental Science quiz so I need to read as much as I can." Julian's eyes go back to the textbook.

"We have to take whatever science?" Carter asks, shocked.

"You have a quiz? It's only the second day." I can't stand the thought of taking that class next semester.

"You idiotic turd." Julian hisses at Carter. Carter playfully pouts. "I got Mrs. Turner." Julian sighs into his hands.

"Ooo." Now I understand why. Mrs. Turner is the hardest junior science teacher. Once, I saw Logan crying because of her. And he didn't have her as a teacher.

"Good luck then."

"Hey man!" Avan, a basketball jock, greets while bringing our chests together. "Have you picked one? We all agreed you'd do the honors."

Tip 4: He shall honor thee yearly geek party.

Logan said I couldn't miss it. It's a defining moment that unites the jocks from all sports teams. And if you want to stay relevant, a requirement.
