Lucas
"Why are you so quiet?"
I sigh into my hand while watching my other hand move around my pizza with a fork. "I don't know... tired?" I raise a lazy eyebrow at Julian.
More like still in shock. I got played by Victoria. Or the other way around? All I know is I'm not dating anyone for a while.
"He looks tired." Carter comments, his hand slowly inching closer towards the pizza on my plate.
"This is the first time you've eaten with us all this week, at least look excited." Julian mutters.
"Fine." I let my hand fall on the table, push the hair out my face, and flutter my eyelashes at Julian. "Better?" I wink.
"Go to hell, Mabry."
So not better.
"How's it feel to have a girlfriend?"
"Why are you asking?" My body freezes at Carter's question.
Does he know? Do they all know? Am I being paranoid?!
"Because your girlfriend just walked in looking like you broke up with her."
Julian and I follow his gaze.
So this is her.
Victoria looks like a new person. Her blonde hair is up on a ponytail, her makeup makes her look like a completely new person, and she's showing a certain section of her stomach. Ironically, her crop top has a megaphone picture on it with pom poms on the sides.
"Did you really break up?" Julian smirks.
"No." But I wish, is what I would have said.
Victoria stands in line for lunch. A couple girls let her cut in front to which she gladly accepts. I roll my eyes.
"Wow." Carter whistles. "I see what you saw in her." He's staring at her lower "back" covered in jeans.
"Good." I flatly mutter.
"Mabry!" Avan takes a seat beside me, slapping my back. "We all thought you were crazy for going after the new girl but after today - " His eyes point to Victoria. "We realize why." His obnoxious laugh causes the surrounding tables to glance at us.
Why is school becoming more dull? I nod at his comment, my eyes falling on Victoria. She's smiling at the lunch lady, her hands playing with the hair that fell out of the ponytail.
"She's coming!" Carter excitedly taps his hands on the table.
My hand lazily holds up my head, now trying to focus on Carter's anime t-shirt.
Her peachy scent hits my nostrils like a truck, suffocating me. She takes a seat beside me, thanking Avan who moved over to let her sit beside me.
"Hello." She nods at Carter and Julian.
