The next morning, I woke up to the sound of my mother screaming. This time she wasn't screaming in a harsh way like she does with my father. She was calling my name in a nice motherly way that even I couldn't understand.

"Melissa! Come down for breakfast sweety!" She yelled. Breakfast? Wait a minute. My mother never made breakfast for me. Who was this chick? I jumped out of my bed and sprinted downstairs and into the kitchen. Well, it sure wasn't a new species of mothers that cook breakfast for their kids. It was my plain old mom in her pink robe and matching fuzzy slippers with pink rollers in her hair. Wow. Rollers was a new thing.

I couldn't help but check the date on my phone. It was Saturday. Usually Saturdays was a very lazy day in my household. Did an alien inject my mother with kindness because this is freaking me out. Anyway, I looked down at the table and my plate was right there with bacon, eggs and... Pancakes?!?!

"G-Goodmorning mom." I said as I slowly sat down at the kitchen table. I stabbed my food with a fork to check if there was any type of drug or poison.

"Goodmorning Sweetie" She said in a soothing kind voice. I wanted to scream because this felt like a dream. Where the hell did my crazy, fucked up mother go? I tried the food and it felt like an explosion of flavors went into my mouth. Wow. My mom can cook?! This is crazy, but good crazy.

After I finished my delicious food that tasted like heaven, I really took a major risk. I walked up to my mother who was washing dishes. I sighed and opened my mouth but before I could say anything, she turned to me and kissed my forhead. Once again, I say wow. This side of my mom is awesome!

"Mom can I go out today?" I asked and waited for her to attack.

"Sure sweetie. Just come back at 11." She said very nonchalant.

"But mom I didn't do anything why are you torchering me?!"

"What do you mean? I said yes." My eyes widened as she said those words.

"Really? Oh my gosh thank you mom!" I grabbed her and hugged her like a soft teddy bear. Wow. Again. I didn't even have to tell her why or where I was going. She didn't care, but she was nice though. Now I can see Tyler tonight! I ran upstairs, grabbed my phone and started to text him.

Me: Hey do you want to go out tonight?

Tyler: Sure babe! Meet at pizzeria at 8:00?

Me: Sure!

Yes! I have a date! Well this was going to be the first place we went out to. Even though the cemetary was a first date fail. Plus I wasn't busy because Carolin was in New York for the funeral of her grandmother. So this was going to be a fun weekend with Tyler.
