After waiting for about ten minutes the first guys appeared on the court and more people had joined you in the stands. You were not that surprised to find that a lot of them were female, but one person did catch your eye. She stood out with her long blonde hair and was quite a bit taller than most of the girls that had gathered.
She stood at the edge of the court, you were seated on a chair three rows behind her. You could hear her speak on her phone in what sounded to you like very broken Japanese.
As soon as Wakatoshi walked through the doors to the gym accompanied by a tall blonde guy, who you recognized from the game you went to watch in Tokyo, the woman in front of you waved the latter over.
You guessed he must be about as tall as Hyakuzawa, judging from the difference in size with Wakatoshi. He jogged over to the lady, who stuck out her phone to him.
"Please explain to your mother again that I'm allergic to flowers and don't want them at the wedding." She sounded exasperated and turned around. You accidentally locked eyes with her and immediately felt embarrassed for listening in.
She walked up to you and took a seat. "English?" She asked you and seemed relieved when you nodded.
"She's a very nice lady, but language is really a problem. I wish his dad was the one to plan the wedding, at least I can speak Russian with him. But it's just not a man's thing, is it? Planning a wedding." She sighed as she watched her fiance talk on the phone.
"So are you a fan? There's rarely any foreigners at the games, let alone practice." She asked you, now and then checking to see if the call had ended yet.
"No, well yes... But I'm mostly here because I'm Wa- Ushijima's girlfriend?" You said hesitantly, not really sure if it was okay to indulge the information to someone you had just met.
"Oh, I see! You must have met when he was out playing on the national team? Was it love at first sight?" She asked enthusiastically.
"No actually." You chuckled. "We met online and I thought he was pretty annoying at first."
This made her laugh out loud and several heads, from players and fans alike, turned in your direction. She ignored them though and continued your conversation.
"Have you guys been together for a long time?" She asked and you shook your head.
"Since August last year, so not really." You answered and couldn't help but think that time had really flown by.
She was about to ask another question when her blonde fiance called out to her. "Selena!"
The woman stood up and went over to him. "It's all settled, there will be no flowers."
"Thanks, Tatsuto." She said and swiftly leaned over the railing to peck him on the lips.
"Anything to have everyone survive until the wedding in six months." He told her with a grin and then was off to join the warm-ups.
Selena took her seat next to you again and the both of you talked for a little while longer until she had to leave. You learned that she was originally from Russia, and had moved here after meeting Sokolov on vacation.
She had played a bit of volleyball some years ago, but due to a bad experience with her team had decided to quit and focus more on watching it rather than playing.
You told her a bit about yourself as well and it felt good to have a conversation with someone else than Wakatoshi. Since Marie had left and you had started living in Sendai, you really didn't have anyone to talk to apart from him.
