Author POV

In supermarket, Na Ri met Kim Hee Joo, Detective Park's wife. Actually they don't really know very well, only knowing each other from Tae Eul, and Mrs. Kim is quite close with Eun Seob, who was once enlisted in the social service sector at the Jongo police station. They greet each other and ask how they are. Mrs. Kim asked about the results of Na Ri's pregnancy test, and Na Ri explained the results with a sad face.

"Oh, I am sorry to hear that. As far as I know the brand is very accurate, how can it be an error?"

"Huh? How do you know I wear that brand?"

"Some weeks ago I met Tae Eul to buy it for you?"

Na Ri frowned, "I never made her buy me a test kit."

"Then, who did she buy it for?"

Then Na Ri changed her expression, pretend to remember, "Ah, right, I forgot that I told her to buy it."

"By the way, don't give up."

Then they split up in front of the shelf to go to a different shelf. Na Ri starts to suspect Tae Eul.

The next day, when she just opened the cafe, Na Ri met Tae Eul who had just left her house.

"Traveling?"

Tae Eul nodded.

So far, Na Ri thought 'traveling' was a new code for 'reconnaissance'. Everyone around Tae Eul is used to not seeing that girl in her house for days. Sometimes she stays at the police station, or even in the car while stalking her target. Even if Tae Eul is really traveling, Na Ri doesn't think that she is going out with a man.

"I just realized, in the last few weeks you never bought coffee again, but fruit juice."

"I'm just adopting a healthy lifestyle."

"Really?" Na Ri glanced at Tae Eul's stomach. "Don't you want to tell me something?"

"About what?"

"About you."

Tae Eul frowned, "me? What's wrong with me?"

"I heard that--"

Tae Eul looked at her watch, "Oh, I think I am gonna late, see you later."

"Eonni!"

Tae Eul turned her head.

"Don't hesitate to tell me anything. Remember, I'll always be on your side."

Republic of Korea, 1990

"My mom once told me about her experience when she gave birth to me. At that time daddy was out of town. Mommy was home alone when her water broke. Fortunately there was a neighbor who helped her call 119. I was curious, I wanted to know who the neighbors were. Maybe I can thank them for helping my mom when I come back. Besides, I really miss her, "explained Tae Eul.

They arrive at Tae Eul's parents house. At that time they were still living in a small rented house, they had not lived in the house she currently lived in. The atmosphere around the house seemed very quiet, perhaps because everyone was away to work. They hide behind a tree when they see Tae Eul's mother walking home with grocery bags. Before opening the door to the house, suddenly she bent down, hugging her big belly, looking in pain.

"Oh, looks like your mother will give birth to you," Gon exclaimed.

Tae Eul looked around, no one was seen around the housing. Even though her mother had screamed for help, no one appeared to help her.
